Found a loader on Craigslist. All they can tell me is it was off an Allis Chalmers. No numbers. Can you tell from the pictures if it will fit my D17 series 1?

Thank you. Now I know what to look up. Would that take a front pump or does the pump go on the front side where the belt drive would go? What about a reservoir? Lots of information here. Brand new to me. Trying to figure it out. Thanks again, Terran |

| It appears to have only boom cylinders and a lever trip bucket. It should work as-is on an old D-17 just fine. |

| One way, high pressure cylinders run off current hydraulic system of the tractor. No tank or pump necessary. |

I gather the extra pump is used for the hydraulic bucket. I think I’d rather have the hydraulic bucket. 400? 500? Am I going to find one? This one was $450. Seems cheap enough , depending on condition of cylinders. I’m afraid of passing and not finding another one. I think I’m going to though.. Save up some more change dollars and hope to get lucky. Thanks for educating me. |

$450 is pretty high for a loader with a mechanical trip bucket. Usually $250 will get you a real good one around here. The 400 and 500 hydraulic loaders are really good, but it might take a while for one to come up for sale. One in very good condition will cost you $1500 or more. Price is very dependent on condition. | One with hydraulic bucket will take a lot of hydraulic changes on a older D17. + one with hydraulic bucket will be two way cylinders on lift. Your D17 is a one way system. Can be done. MACK |

I’d probably jump on it for $250. I could excuse replacing it latter. I see a number of older posts on the subject. Folks wanting to add the hydraulics to the series 1, but I don’t see any follow ups. $1,500 for the loader might just be the start up cost. If I find one. Thanks everybody. |

| You can add a front mounted hydraulic pump to a D17 serries 1. The pump mounts to the counter weight on the front of the tractor with the same mounting bracket used on the D14 and D15 industrial loader backhoe setup. But you will need to have a custom drive shaft made for the pump. Steiner sells the adaptors which bolts onto the end of the crank shaft pulley to drive the pump but I ended up having to buy the Ford 800 series drive shaft and have a machine shop cut and extend it to the correct length. Double roller chain coupler and 12 to 18 gpm pump with a storage tank bolted on the tool bar and you are in business. That is how I set my D17 serries 1 up. If you use a 500 serries loader the loader frame should double as the tank. I added dual remotes on my D17 there should be an old thread from about 3 or 4 years ago here with photos if you can find it on the search. I often don't have much luck searching for things. |

| $150, there you go! A one way loader is so much better than no loader at all, you may deside you don't even have a need to spend way over 10 times that much to make it go down under pressure. |

About a 700 mile drive. I have to pass. The one for $450 is close. It would end up around the same price after fuel.
