Hi. I have a question about the pto to transmission gasket. The lower 1/3 of this gasket is solid even though the opening it goes to isn't. Is there a reason that this gasket has all of the extra material on it? Should I trim the excess off? Does this gasket cover different options such as no pto? This is for a model C tractor. The one that I took off looks like the extra just wore away over time and it doesn't seem like having cork floating in the oil is a good idea. Thank you, Joe.

I believe it is to make a little reservoir to hold Fluid on slopes etcetera for the hydraulic pump. I could be wrong, that has happened to me once or twice in my lifetime.

That makes sense to me. Thanks for the explanation. I'm always learning something new about these machines.
