Anyone build a 'veggie garden' sized compost/manure spreader ?? something like 4by8 to 5by10 size. I have LOTS of compost to spread and a bucket at a time will take forever.
I don't think 'bodging' the 100 yr old spud digger will work.....
ideas, opnions, options....low on funds so no $4K units, lotsa steel and materials though !

Around here old still working and in decent shape ground drive spreaders go for around $400. Might be worth checking your local craigslist or simular website.

I looked at that video and the first thing I though of, was you could make a "Muck Spreader" out of a almost any, 3 point scoop and you could make it a end dump, with a screw, instead of a flail.

Now I'm thinking something like a fertilizer spreader or seed spreader, like a 'gravity cart'. Somethin 4' long so 4-6 buckets of compost could be hauled

How about this. Looks like an oversized drop spreader.

Mill Creek makes a little ground drive unit...

I went the used old antique route, I bought a old international unit, I think its a No 100  holds about 4-5 scoops of stuff, ground drive, stored in a shed for years, think I paid $375 for it, works like a champ...

This aint mine, mine is still in its work clothes...

drop spreader is the style I'm thinking of, but I would build bigger..
the millcreek unit is same as NT unit, too $$$
NO old affordable real spreaders locally
and...
re: someone driving a pickup as someone else shovels it out over the side/back.
That'd have to be ME driving and tossing AND DRIVE on the wife's nice, fluffly garden soil ??? Yeesh, I do that once and SHE will figure out how to get lil TOOT to dig a hole 2' wide,' long and 6' foot deep then 'whoops' hit me with the BH bucket...
Today's 'simple' task is to move a dumptruck load of mulch and 'place' on the north ridge next to the shop.Maybe 4' access, cross front of bldg, then turn, then 72' run ,and dump onto the embankment. Load of chips is 120' from bldg too.....I'm already tired...
All this just to make her veggies grow....IF it ever stops raining long enough to plant AND it warms up for them to grow.
