Subject: Allis G short project

 This Allis G has been a project I have been working on off and on for a couple years. Started out look like this and the loader had been removed.  Bought the loader with help from people I know in PA.as it came from PA auction. Today made some adjustments to the length of the loaders arms and will need to weld the pivot points for the cylinders.     |

| I read an article somewhere that said they used shortened G's with loaders to unload railroad box cars. For-runner of the skid steer loader. Nice job, rare tractor !! |

Richard, You always have interesting Allis projects! This short G and loader will turn some heads. Power steering might be needed with a bucket full of dirt? Looking forward to your updates too. Today work on the making Cylinders for the loader. The ones that came with the tractor are to far gone to fix. These will not be exactly like the others but close. Was able to cut the back section off the tube, Also drilled out for oil supply and welded a fitting back in. Was able to cut off the shaft and re taper it.    |

DiyDave's post tells the story. This unit is great but only for a few uses. My best use is elevated storage in our large shed; also hauling wood chips at our church large, blacktop parking lot. CAUTION is important if your shortened G is operated without the loader; I was told they could easily do wheelies. Herb(GA)

Made a bracket to hold the Hydraulic pump. Used the torch and a grinder to make the cut out. Had to cut out and 1 1/2" of the bracket to allow the pump to be installed and re welded on the other side. Also clean out the tank and mounted the valves on the tractor. The color is wrong and this will be corrected when everything is tested and working order.      |

I think I have that same old drill press in the shed. A guy gave it to me, didn't want it scrapped, so I took it. that's really neet to see a 'shorty G' ! Wonder how LONG it took to unload a RR car though... and just how SHORT were men back then as I can't see me ( 6-2) on that G !
