This tractor is a 1964 model, best I can determine. I've had it about 30 years. Engine rebuilt 3 or 4 years ago but still having trouble....it was losing power and dying under load (six foot finish mower or plowing/disking. Now won't start at all (I replaced condenser, points, regulator, coil) and may have gotten the distributor out of position.
I just bought another tractor and now trying to decide if it's worth it to try to get the AC running or maybe even try to get to show quality. If I sell it as is (not running) what is it worth? Are the plows/adapter for the snap coupling worth anything at all? Tractor is near Louisville, KY.

Around here in Kansas the adapter would be worth probably $300, the plow maybe $175 at best. Tractor not running depends on the year/condition of everything else, but probably $1,500 tops.
There isn't all that much to them, it would be worth trying to get it going again. Setting the distributor right if it is off isn't hard.
Start with the easy things, is it getting fuel to the carb and spark through to the plugs? Let us know what it's doing and there are tons of knowledgeable people to help you out here.

You did work on the electrical but you made no mention of the fuel system. A carb full of crud can cause a loss of power and dying under load. Clean out the carb, fuel tank and sediment bowl screen and refill tank with FRESH gas. After that, time the engine with a timing light. If the plugs are good, she should run fine after that. There is nothing majorly wrong with the tractor and these steps do not cost a lot. In my opinion this is maintenance that should be done after 50 years of use.

Sounds like it turns over with the starter correct? You might want to have the compression checked? If they have gas and spark and some compression and timing is close, they should run. Maybe not run well but should run. I suggested the compression check because it sounds like it gradually ran out of power over time? Regards, Chris

I bought a WF once that the seller said the tractor just started running worse and worse finally wouldn't start.I pulled the valve cover the rocker assembly had worked loose.

Ooops. My bad. Carb rebuilt. Bowl cleaned. Flow to carb confirmed. Tank totally removed and cleaned. Thanks for the reminder.

All I can say about compression is the company that worked on it SAID they put new rings in it and tested it. It ran fine for 2-3 years after the engine work. Thanks.

Couple of thoughts.....
My WC ran poorly - and got worse and worse - because the air cleaner was plugged. Must have been nearly solid when I got the tractor and just got worse. Cleaned it and it was like a new engine!
Also....on the electrical parts you replaced - my experience with replacement parts (especially condensers) for my antique cars is that brand new parts are sometimes junk out of the box. Have you checked to make sure that you have a good hot spark at the plugs?

I think it must be series one....I can't find a SN but it has the head lights up front and the decal also indicates S1.
I'll just use the new tractor to pull it in the new barn where the newly retired old guy (me) will learn the finer points of tractor mechanics...or not....at least I'll be out from under foot in the house. The master plan is finally coming together!

I think I found the serial number. Stamped on the left side I found "15 4509". I think that would make it a 1961 model. It has power steering.
