Kinda feel like a tool asking this...I have a fpl 60-24 forklift on propane. How do you set the Ing timing? I can’t see the crank pulley, found a cover on flywheel housing and barred engine to find tdc and fire mark. The only manuals we have are tractor books so are these set the same? 25deg btdc at 2000rpm? ie fire mark in middle of cover hole at 2000 rpm?

When I do that it won’t idle or restart until I advance dist to where the fire line is in middle at idle...follow?

Last resort is twist distributor til it sounds happy. ..a little twd ha advanced is usually good then lug it low and see if it knocks. Back off a tad if it does.

Advance mechanism is probably shot, the weight pivot holes worn? Springs still have reasonable resistance? If bad on either then is going advanced too fast where once set timing and shut it off is too far retard to restart. Set it at idle and leave it, should be fine.
