yeesh, not the flaming, idiotic over 'engineered' cruise control master cylinder switch again ??
I designed and replaced mine in the 97 then 3 years later Ford replaced what I did with their version. THAT was an idiotic, over 'engineered'  cure that, well..ISN'T a cure for the problem...

BTW my way cost me less than a buck, Ford's was 100s of dollars......

Read it is from the block heater wiring and some corrosion, only happens when plugged in. This is what I read.

Just had a laugh. My son just showed me a post on that facebook thing:

"If you new Ford truck doesn't burn from this recall issue, the freezing door handles all winter will make you want to burn it down yourself."

LOL.

Several years ago, while I was sitting in my office at the car dealership, there was a ferd pickup sitting outside my office. Guys were trying to trade it in. I noticed smoke coming out from under the hood. We raised the hood and sure enough there was that cruse control unit on fire. Several years earlier, One of my employees bought a full size ferd van had it several months, sure enough ignition switch caught fire and burnt it out. Of course no insurance.

I have a 17 Ford 150 and now have three recall notices, 1) block heater wire 2) seat belt tensioner fire hazard 3) door latch that may allow door to come open when driving.  Have not gone in for them to be fixed yet, notices seem to be two months apart.

Saw one in hardware store parking lot burn, it was parked next to mine. We just got out and started to walk away when my wife looked back and saw smoke form something, I ran back and moved our diesel before the flames erupted. The whole front end burned off before FD arrived! Thanks; ac fleet

A friend had his F150 burn and the WORSE part was he couldn't get his case full of notes/dwgs out of it. As a master timber framer from Germany his notes WERE his business. Oh yeah...camera gone  as well.....and, to add insult to injury... he had to cover the difference between the insurance value and the loan value...

Ford did repalce the gas tank straps for me, safety issue but NOT the tie rod ends! They fall out..not a safety issue ??

OK.....am I reading #2 correct? A seat belt tensioner that can catch fire?????  Huh???? LOL

And the door latches come open? Are these the same one you can't open to get into your truck in the winter? LOL.

#2 yes....

..... During a crash, a device called a pretensioner uses an explosive charge to lock the seat belt in place. The company said the device may generate excessive sparks. Ford will
fix the problem for free and said in a securities filing the recall would cost about $140 million....

Yeah and it seems to be more frequent all the time now.
If we could only get rid of all the computer krap, the plastics, and other cheap junk from China, we could maybe have a good car again....maybe...

Yeah cuz my GMC didn’t freeze and brea....oh yeah, it did! Sorry, I was thinking about how awesome the bumper is. No wait, that’s not it either, that’s made of foil. Must be how I like how the seat makes you feel pitched forward and how the seatbelt rides up your neck and “catches” at the sight of a sparrow flying by. No, that doesn’t sound nice either. Hmmm...let me think about why they’re better and I’ll get back. Sure as hell isnt the ingenious routing of the brake lines!!!

YEP........ they ALL have their problems. EVERYTHING gets more complicated and harder to work on.. and the more complicated they get, the better chance of a recall to FIX something....I had a 1969 CHevy and a 1978 FORD and neither on got recalled for anything... Of course the "GUARANTEE" was good for about a month back then... and the NTSB didn't bother looking into too many " safety problems".... I have had FORD trucks since 1978 and very happy, even with the minor problems that come up.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I'm seriously looking at a 69 Chev C10 with 350 auto, but no box. Cab is in good shape, I think the box got abused?

I stopped by the dealership I worked at yesterday and told the owner to get me a new pickup. He is getting me a new Dodge or Chevy, which ever he can get me by mid March. I bought liscense, plates for the ones I have yesterday. I found out the ferd my wife bought is 2 years newer than I thought, also found out it is a 450 dually not a 350. Doesn't make any difference, I can't find a dealer that wants to take it in trade.

We have two Ford dealers in the town closest to me and you can't get a used Superduty at either of them. They have waiting lists and as soon as one gets traded in or lease return it is gone.

But I hate dealers and trades anyway. Back in 2013 I went to trade my 2007 F350 in. It was mint. They offered me $11,000. Meanwhile they had 07's on their lots for $29,000.
Nothing like trying to make a buck. Overcharge you for the new one, and kill you on your old one.

That would be awesome! I've always been a Ford guy, but I wish I could have found something like that. Simple, reliable and cheap for parts.

I think Ford is headed the way GM went because in the last 8-10 years they've produced a lot of junk. I really like the look of the newest Super Duty, but no way in he** I'll buy one. The 6.7 is fast becoming the 6.0 in problems caused by pure stupidity. Absolutely tiny valve stems that drop the heads off, the valve heads are so thin that they crack. The injector hold down bolts are too thin. If they don't snap off going down the road, they break off when you replace an injector. The hold downs themselves will break. They can't seem to install the vacuum pumps tight so they don't leak. Main water pumps are very common failures. Turbos are another common problem and it's not unusual to get a bad one right out of the box. 6mm bolts in the exhaust manifolds, what was someone thinking there? You'd think they would have learned their lesson on pulsing injectors in the exhaust stroke to regen the DPF with the 6.4. With no tabs on the main and rod bearings, along with the fuel that gets in the oil, spun bearings are another major problem. Then the problem we hate the most is the code from hell, P207F. Could be a NOX sensor, could be the complete aftertreatment system, could be half the whole truck. Once you do figure it out it's a pain in the a$$ just to get the 207F to clear.
The Ecoboost engine in the Fusion and Escape is bad about cracking heads, and they don't seem to be able to build a door latch that stays closed. The dual dry clutch in Fiesta and Focus shudders enough that Ford added a test in IDS to measure the shudder. If it doesn't exceed their predetermined value, it won't generate the code required to replace under warranty.
Then there's the lousy warranty times, so poor that there is a class action lawsuit against Ford for intentionally lowering the times to save on warranty cost instead of spending enough time on R&D.
Quality hasn't been Job 1 for quite a while now...
