Our tractor club donates to StJudes, Shriners and Ronald McDonald house. In 25 yrs I think the amount is near $80,000.00. Very proud of our accomplishments. I wish it was that much a year.

Most of that information is bogus.   For instance, Mark Curran has nothing to do with Goodwill.  It's true that many charities  pay their leaders more then I feel they are worth but all real charities have to list their financial info every year and it is easily accessible.  Remember, at least half of what you read on the internet is not true, (other then on this site, in which almost everything, except for what Shameless says, is true).

don't believe in giving cash to any BUT if you need veggies, tools, wood or help...you know where I live.
gave a brand new cedar door the other day to neighbour even delivered it, when he asked 'how much', I said 'nothing ,but if your hens are alaying, a dozen eggs would be great !'

I couldn't find anything about the ones above. One listed as a good 1 to contributate to is Wounded Warriors. Those guys and gals need all the help they can get. Ronald McDonald house was another listed as good to donate your money. All it takes is a Google search. Look them up.

Seen this many times over the years - keep thinking the Red Cross keeps getting big names and high salary individuals at the top - then has problems at the bottom when it comes to help.
Goodwill - seems it's where i shop now for many things , and when I had foot surgery I borrowed medical supplies from them (NO CHARGE) for 3 months use .
Also my grandson worked at Goodwill as part of a training program from High School . Paid well and was a good learning tool for him .
As for so called paid individuals - they have created JOBS for many and also in the recycling of goods that otherwise would be trashed .
So Goodwill will keep being someplace I shop and donate merchandise to but as far as CASH outright nope .
Then one sees these pleas for ONLY $19 a month now on TV from every form of so called charities of DO GOODERS - Save the Animals, children, refugees, holocaust survivors in Russia, and whatever else can make you part with your earnings .

Red Cross is HUGE and works around the world... They do BEST what no one else can do... I contribute to United Way also.. they do a lot of good LOCALLY for  many groups.... In times of real need, FEED AMERICA is a great way to help the needy kids... also local Food Banks keep it local, and they are tied to Feed America.

Breaking Costs Down: How Much Goes to Charity?

Per their  https://www.unitedway.org/annual-report/2018-annual-report" rel="nofollow - Annual Report for 2018 , United Way Worldwide claimed combined administrative, non-operating and fundraising expenses of 5%, meaning that they spend approximately 5 cents for every dollar donated on organizational costs, and the other 95 cents go directly towards community projects. This is well below Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance  http://www.give.org/for-charities/How-We-Accredit-Charities/" rel="nofollow - Standards for Charity Accountability  that allow up to 35%in overhead costs. Each local United Way agency, however, is different, so the first thing you need to do is find your local agency's information about its overhead costs.

I've found that supporting organizations like Red Cross, United Way, and Feed America can make a real difference in people's lives, both globally and locally. It's reassuring to know where your contributions are going and the impact they're making.
