Does anyone know where I can find a H3 Transmission Input Shaft Seal?  I have a 1961 H3 dozer with the 149 gas engine; and, it is weeping hydraulic oil.  The book indicates that the input shaft seal part number is 242624; and, the flange gasket for the input shaft is part number 0237197-5.  (I guess if I can't find the flange gasket, I can always use silicone.)

Thanks for your help!

Check with suppliers on this site like DJs and Sandy Lake for a couple. That gasket and seal were used on the D14s, and possibly others, as well. I bet you will find them. If you don't find the gasket I would suggest getting some gasket paper and making one rather than using RTV/silicone.

Once you take the old seal out, I have found that most quality old school parts guys can find seals, off of the numbers stamped on the seal.  I'm not talking about a advance store, or o'reilley's, I mean a good auto parts jobber, or a rural NAPA.  Or a bearing supply warehouse.

Also, once you have it off, you can see if something like a worn bearing caused the seal to go bad, or if you need to put a speedy sleeve, on a scored seal surface, of the shaft, in question...Wink
