Each year the hedge gets bigger and harder to trim by hand and I get older. This year called for a new approach. My wife isn't laughing any more

Trimming becomes much less of a problem, if its the bottom 1/8th inch that's trimmed. Only takes one pass.

Thanks for all the comments. Having been in the concrete silo business for more than 40 years, safety is number one. The forklift has a rating of 10,000 lbs @ 44' so I'm likely about half that. There are 3/4" bolts in the front of the forks. The chains are all grade 70 with 3/8" on the axles and 5/16" holding the 21" beam under the center. The 21" beam is overkill but it was a drop off that was the right length and it was cut so the side rails were nested. It looks a lot scarier than it really was. I'm not going to start trimming trees.

Actually the forklift has a tilt or lean feature with a bubble level indicator. I lowered the cutter bar on the mower for the second pass and fine tuned the level with the forklift. I have more pictures but they don't want to load right now.

Calvin, that's awesome! It's amazing the uses one can find for the areal lift, but that is cool!
