Man just $3 a dozen !! that is a STEAL  for sure.

I don't buy into whatever the 'scientific community' says about 99% of 'this or that' as most 'experts' are driven either by their paycheck or politics.
Please that aside consider the following...

What did the farmers of 1,2,or 3 generations ago eat ? LOTS of eggs, bacon, beef, veggies.... They ALSO did a LOT of physical labour. The problem is not so much what you eat but do you BURN it off later ? Today's obese problem is directly related to the 'two thumbs only' syndrome. Most people sit on their butts for hours on end, NOT doing any physical work. bad, bad, bad   and it shows.

While I don't toss bales of hay everyday, I do walk between 12 and 18,000 steps every day according to the gizmo on my belt, so I hover around 200#,have for the past 40 years.

ditto what Jay said... I have a member of my church that 'donates' eggs to me so I have all I need... that being said, I do about a doz a week. I ride bicycle some days and some days not but try to keep the food portion sizes down so I don't tip the scale ... ...

I would say that it has more to do with your genes than anything.  Neighbor down the road ate 12 eggs every morning all his life.  Lived into his 80's.

This girl used to walk by an old mans house every day on her way to school. On the last day of her senior year she stopped to talk to the old man. She said he never aged and must eat healthy. He told her he had 3 eggs bacon and toast for breakfast every day. He had a double cheese burger and tots for lunch every day and had a chicken fried steak with mashed tatters n gravy for supper every day. Then he told her that he drinks one pot of coffee and one case of black label beer every day and he smokes 2.5 packs of cigarettes a day. The girl asked, well just how old are you? The old man replied I’ll be 31 come September.

Our Family had 3000 hens in the 50's when the rest of the farmers  had 10 for their own use.  25 years, two routes in the largest town in the next county, kept this farm in money for food and tax's.  Later on I went to work for Henningsen Foods Inc. one of the largest egg dehydrations plants, retired from there after 31 years.  Doctors were always wrong about eggs as they are concerned with HUMAN cholestral, not egg cholestral. they are pur protien and u will find if hers are Really free range eggs, they taste better then store bought and will have darker yolks to start with.             I have consumed 3-5 eggs daily and i am 66 and still going strong,  my grandfather said it best,  If God made it Eat it, if man made it ignore it.  with 3000 hens we ate alot of chicken too, when all the pigs and cows were on the mortgage. ha,  that banker never did stop to count the chickens.  the other thing u should know is her eggs will be too fresh to boil as the shells won't come off, age them for a month in the frig and then boil up a bunch and put them in the pickle juice jar for game day!

two more points for all questions:  IF the eggs are picked regularly it is doubtful they will be spoiled, if u are suspicous of an egg, float it in water,  good eggs sink.
If she has no rooster u won't find any chicks either,  if she does  pick daily it will only be a tiny blood spot, u can fish out with a spoon.     third IF u have to boil fresh eggs after they cool, put them under ur palm on top the counter and roll them around till the shell breaks into hundreds of tiny pieces all attached to the membrane and it will come off the egg easier.
when we sold on the egg routes we were often asked if the eggs were 'fertile' we always said yes, as the egg itself was, doubt it was as we only ran one rooster to 1500 hens and he was WAY overworked!  so the eggs were fertile, just probably NOT fertilized.

Take a needle and punch a small hole in the air sack end (big end) without cracking the shell on a fresh egg. After boiling the shell will practically fall off.

Every Sunday Ma would chop the heads off 2 chickens and she would tie them on the windmill to bleed out,   I remember the dunking and  plucking and picking too.  I love eggs and chicken,  turkey not so much.

Hey Allis,  I`ve thought about steaming them,  but never knew the time.  Would steaming be comparable to boiling time wise?

Eggs are really a healthy food especially for Diabetics as they are high in protein. We don't know the agenda the study years ago was driven by proclaming eggs were bad for us. I know we had 450 Leghorn layers and we're selling eggs to Kroger's and after the Doctors told everyone that eggs were bad we sold the Hens to Campbell's Soup Company! I have 4 hens and eat eggs 2 to 3 times a week. The rest I give to family and friends. I call them my therapy chickens as they give me some chores!

I work at a liquid egg further processing facility, pasteurizing liquid eggs that are broke at another location.

Eating eggs in moderation probably has minimal health effects. However after having many classes on food safety/preparation anybody that eats a egg that is't fully cooked (soft yolk) is taking life into their own hands. Totally gross.

Favorite chicken/egg joke-
How many doors does a chicken coop have?

2, otherwise it would be a chicken sedan.

I agree with u on the sedentary life style most lead nowadays, but the other part is generations back they ate more unprocessed foods from the garden, fresh with NO additives unless u count what came form the barn floor to add to the garden.  Processed flour, low fiber, ingredients u can't pronounce all bid to food that shouldn't be eaten in quantity.  but they won't learn; that English Chef tried to show school kids what chicken nuggets REALLY are by making them in front of the class and they are so brainwashed by the world they still wanted to eat them.
I can remember my granddad scoffing at hotdogs, (tits, tongues, and tails) and what ever else you dont want to know about.  of course he was our family vegetarian that ate ONLY meat and potatoes with the explanation, the cow eats the grass i eat the cow so Im a vegetarian!

Lemme see,,,,,,,,,,,,boiled (pickled) eggs, baked beans and Lasix.........you think about it.....
I've steamed eggs, but the EASIEST way is to buy yourself a steamer made for that.  And I do mean EASIEST....  You take em out at the bell (or buzzer) and run em under cold water and the shells fall off.
THEN,,,,,,,,you cut em up and put em in a salad or make egg salad, or you leave em whole and put em in a pickling brine and pickle em for eatin with beer!  Goooood eatin!!  Then when you're in bed with your honey, you let one slip and holler "a bat" and she ducks under the covers......that only happens oncst...
