I'm so frustrated I'm about to scream!!! How do you get the oil pan gasket for a WD to stay in place while you put the pan on? Thanks for your help and suggestions. Phil

Have you tried weather strip adhesive and sticking the gasket to the pan? In auto shop that was the accepted method anyway. In Roger Welsch's books he mentions a product called "snap-ups" (I think that is the name) that hold pan up near block while starting pan bolts. I have never tried it, but it might be of some assistance. I would think it would be a lot like have an extra set of hands.......

If your talking about the cork piece on the front and back I rolled mine up like a roll of tape so it would have an arc to it and not be straight. If you mean the rest of the gasket I put gasket in a tube on it.

I'm talking about the end pieces. It seems to be harder too because the engine is still in the tractor, so it's a tight fit anyway. I think I'll try the adhesive first. The gasket stuff in a tube sure won't hold the end pieces. Thanks, Phil

You need to use the little clips that come with the gasket set, they go over the pan lip then hold the gasket in place. Rolling them up as before mentioned helps alot also.

Don't forget to use something like brake parts cleaner on the surfaces first. Sealers/adhesives don't like to stick to oily surfaces.

OK Phil First thing is to just take a deep breath! LOL

Now like the boys said above roll the two end pieces in a can or something round and about three inches inside for three hours or so then use the little clips that came in the good gasket set you have (you did buy the good gasket set with the clips in it didn't you) remove the front angle engine mount and the rear flywheel cover get the engine clean where the pan mounts.

I use four long pieces of all thread to hold the pan in place and then lift the pan up into place then install the bolts.

I useually use the black silicone and put them in place on the oil pan and take a coffee can and clamp them thown and leave it over night then the next day they will not fall off or move but do make sure you clean the surfaces well .

Thanks, guys!! I finally got it together. I was trying to put it together with the front engine mount in place. Please don't laugh, but trust me it is next to impossible to get it together with it in!! Thanks for the advice. Phil

try using some spiderwire fishing line,tye it thro every hole on the pan thru the gasket.you dont need all of those adhesives.pre form your end seals and install
