I have an '05 F250 w/5.4 engine.Strictly a work truck(no power ANYTHING) but does have A/C. My question is, regardless of climate control position;panel,floor,combo,defrost,defrost/floor whatever, the compressor activates even though the A/C mode is not selected. I can see it running in the defrost mode, but not in panel/vent/floor mode. Is this normal?? Yes, the A/C blows very cold in both A/C and MAX mode. Thanks

I don't know if it blows in EVERY position, but FORD trucks do cycle the compressor in many of the selected positions..( my 2002 runs in 3-4 different positions ). Besides keeping the humidity down, you want the pump to get some on - off time and not set OFF for months at a time.

The compressor should run in all modes except floor and vent or off.

sounds kinda normal, I know my 97 will run in max a/c, ac, vent/floor and floor modes. It might (should) be explained in the manual in the glove box.
it might be shut off( depower the clutch) IF you set the 'temp' knob high enough. I've never checked though.
