Hello everyone,

I have access to 2 pieces of farm equipment that have G 226 power units on them. These are going to be scrapped and I was wondering if there is anything worth saving on the motors? I already pulled the updraft off of one, the other is rusted out. I also pulled the distributors with governors. I was thinking of taking off the intake and exhaust manifolds and forgetting the rest. Any input on what would be worth my trouble?

G-226 engines are from a D-17 tractor.     W-226 engines are from a WD-45 tractor.   I wouldn't let them go to scrap, just for the possibility of good crankshafts/camshafts and maybe blocks/heads in each one.

Best to leave them all together until you need or want to sell a part. Rust gets them fast when disassembled Even when stored inside.

Right now they are in a scrap yard. Unless I buy them they are will be chopped and sent off to be recycled. I have limited funds to buy parts off them. I am living on social security and a small pensions from the Army. I can't take a chance on buying anything more unless I know it would be worth my effort in the short run. Long term I just cannot do, unfortunately.
