My "big" sister has been in to hostas for years. She has registered many "new" ones and was posting many of her favorites on facebook the other day.
I had to copy and save the picture of one she named for me. She called it Bluegrallis Shocked
Her post isn't public so I saved the image to my PC.

That is neat. Are hostas the ones that will change color according to the acidity of the soil or am I thinking of something else? Think my wife has a few of those if I haven't cut them down, must not have since I am still allowed in the house.

I know nothing about hostas , just that she has bout a half acre of em in ALL shapes and sizes. She also has 2 others she started, that are named after my 2 older brothers , in some fashion. Both Ed and Bill are gone, so they'll have to log on to facebook in heaven to read about them Unhappy
It's pretty amazing how many different shapes and colors they can be.

I have plenty of them.  They like shade to partial sun and do not change colors, those are Hydrangea that are pink or blue depending on acidity of the soil.

This year I bought a bunch of dormant hosta roots and started them in pots under a grow lamp inside and then transferred them to the garden last month.  Looks like they are going to make it but not very big yet.

Stan has it right we have a bunch of them in a area by the woods, our hosta patch. The deer trim them off every winter and it doesn't hurt them. Love all the different sizes and colors variations

I've got a bunch that my "Big" Sister planted on my land last summer.  They did good and then this winter the rabbits chewed them ALL off.  They are back and look WONDERFUL.
She's a wonder Tuck.  She's got a good green thumb!  If I would have planted them, they'd all be dead now....
YOUR Sister has a GREAT green thumb!!  She's got talent!

Just a few of the hundreds she has in her "yard". Most of her yard is Hostas.

Can I plant hostas under pine trees? I've got some trees nothing grows under. Hostas are very beautiful.
