Turn pto on and blade would not spin . Looked under neath and shaft coming down was spinning when pto was on . Tapered splined shaft is not splined any more. I am going to local AGCO dealer tomorrow to pick up filters and oil for my Kubota side X side so will see if shaft is available. Part # 537830 If part is not available and cannot find a salvage one, what are my options? Can spline shaft be built up and machined back to usable? Anybody got one laying around ?

Hey I actually posted a picture from my phone. Woo hoo!!!, hot damn !!! . Little big but I will take it . Took me all day to get that shaft out . Wonder what a new heavy-duty woods bush hog would cost?

It could be built up and re-machined, But would be major $. If agco can get it, it will also likely be major $. Best thing would be a whole gear box, offn a rusted thru donor mower. IIRR, 160 and 172 use the same box...

If NLA, I would have a machine shop machine one from 4150 steel. No taper, straight shouldered, machine two keyways opposite each other. Take the blade holder hub, cut the old tapered hub off and weld on a hub made to match double keyed shaft. Welded hub will need split lines and have a tightening ears on one or both sides. Older Woods mowers used this. Works good too. HTH Tracy
