Working on the steering slop in my CA. I followed the manual, got it off the tractor (2wheel) and got the pinion gear off. The IT manual doesn't make it seem like a big deal getting the pedestal off the shaft after that, but I am not able to pull it off. I need to replace the bottom seal or I wouldn't be messing with it, so I am not worried about destroying the seal if that is what it takes to get off. I lightly tapped the bottom of the pedestal with a hammer and I also tried jerking it off from the top side. I could use advice right now before I wreck something. Thanks.

The I&T manual tends to leave out most of the needed details. I have a CA (and others) shop manual on line at:

My farm has Ames city limits on two sides, my home is about 10 miles from The Boondocks.

Gerald, I know those 2 seals are available from the dealer, but since you were so helpful, I would buy them from you if you have them.
