Was clearing some trees with my h4, knocking down some dead trees, etc. Noticed on my left side I had a couple large limbs getting close to me. thought about stopping and clearing them off but thought id just continue. All of a sudden this great big puff of white smoke came flying out in the front and the thing quit moving. SHUT it off as fast as I could. Apparently one of those limbs had hit the discharge line on top of the hydraulic pump breaking it completely off. Luckly I was able to get the hose off, go to napa and they made me new hose, installed it and all is okay now after spending 60 bucks for my stupid mistake or lack of comprehension to see what could happen. Lession learned I guess.

I agree with comment, won't be your last mistake. I did same thing with my Skid steer busted off both grapple hoses charging into brush pile. Not only did I tear off two hoses in the middle of nowhere,, but then noticed a limb had come into the cab and came within a couple of feet of my belly.

My lesson was slow down and pay attention. Lesson is still with me.

Be aware of your surroundings [ ALWAYS ]
Them mechanical things can be fixed - might cost a couple bucks or be a real expense -
Them bodily OOPS things can be permanent.
Loading my HD4 loader into back of dump truck off a dirt pile - the track caught the edge of dump box floor - then the machine rotated itself inside the track -
Before i could get things stopped the machine was standing up on its back end - loader was slowly raising and engine still running - and track still stuck on the dump box edge
Son ran by and pulled the stop cable to kill engine - then the rest of things played out for the day -

-------------
Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.
