Question for the 620/720 experts here.  I've had it apart for the last few weeks getting the gas tank cleaned, new fuel filter, and cleaned and adjusted the carb.  I put everything back together, now I can't get a sound from the starter.  All lights work, and the battery has plenty of juice.  Is there a blown fuse somewhere?  Will the engine have to come out to access the starter (God, I hope not!).  It started great before I took the fuel system apart.

I would appreciate any help!  Thanks!

Have you checked the safety switches? HTH Tracy Martin

I know you have to pull the engine to get to the starter, and then it is behind the cowling. I had mine out three or four times before I found the bad winding in the starter. It ran on the bench but not under any load.
Check the ground connections first.

Tracy, Where are the safety switches on it?  I am not that familiar with it yet...

I think one on clutch pedal, or actuated by pedal, could be at tranny. I know there is one on hydro levers, must be in neutral to start.Pretty sure all pto clutches must be off also.HTH Tracy Martin

Glad you got that D series. I was gonna join in. Have worked on a few of the Simplicity models of those. Glad you didn't have to get the starter off. Engine does have to come out. I would recommend replacing/rebuilding anything else you thought might EVER wear out in that area while you had it out.LOL! It's not as bad as working on some Toros, but it still sucks!
