So I was looking at the different versions of the 4 row snap coupler planter. It seems like one model has markers going straight up and one model has markers going forward, can anyone tell me why the markers would go forward? What was the purpose of this? If anyone has a picture of how they worked going forward that would be great I was told there was some sort of rope mechanism that you needed to run through eyelets on the front of the tractor

Also it looks like they are simply two two row Planters mounted together other than I have seen double-disc openers on the front toolbar in front of each row...

Only one marker was forward while planting . They would automatically switch when you lifted and turned around at the end of the field . The one in the ground would stay put as you were turning and the other would extend out as the one in the ground got closer to the front of the tractor ,it lifted out as the other one extended . Tie the rope short to transport .at least that's the way I remember . My father planted every year with one . Yes 2 , 2 row planters on a tool bar , would think there was a 6 row also . I think they were called drill planters . Slow as you go as seed only drops so fast.

Only if you weighted it a bunch. CA would handle it otherwise and be real handy to plant with.
