Hi guy's I went to adjust the clutch today on the hd5 I flipped up locking pin and went to turn locking ring clockwise but it was very tight but managed to get one position out of it with a heap of hitting just wanting to know if it is that tight is it worn out

Did you desangaged the cluch lever before adjustement

Are you sure you had the 9/16 bold loose to free the ring ? Never had a problem once bold was free in turning the ring to adjust up the pressure plate - getting it set so it snaps over center on lever sometimes takes a couple tries . Also check the grease on the slide for the over-center as it has a brass bushing that needs grease . 
 One reason to put transmission in neutral and engage the clutch when idling
 machine

Thanks for your reply coke I'll have a look and see if their is a looking bolt but I think it has a little tab you flick over that locks it

The ROCKFORD cluch have only a lock adjustement and maybe you have no more adjustement and try counterclock adjustement if the tread are not bad on ring adjustement

I managed to get one lug of adjustment out of it after some hard hitting I was thinking of trying to get it to go counter clock wise but the angle you have to work with makes it very difficult to move it that way the clutch still has a good over centre feel to it so I'll see if it's any tighter when I drive it next have to fix steering breaks before I find out now though

after seeing your brake bands could it just be rusty and stuck?

I imagine this is too late but spray the adjusting ring or as much as you can get to with some kind of lubricant and let it set a day or two then move it back and forth what little you can. Keep this up until it loosens up There is special tool made to do this with.
