I just recently bought a 1944 Allis Chalmers C it has the stock hydraulic pump with hydraulic cylinder, I was just wondering if the hydraulic system is strong enough to lift the woods 59 inch belly deck that it has on it. I was wondering if anybody in this discussion forum knew before I try to mount the cylinder to the deck. I know that the weight of the implement has to drop the cylinder which I already know how I'm gonna mount it I just need to know if its enough lift pressure to lift my woods belly deck. Thanks.

The cylinder gets turned around pointing foward from the original mounting point to the belcrank mounted in front of the right foot rest. A chain goes down from there to the lift points on the deck. In my opinion the hyd lift isn't very useful at all. The blades must be turning for the hydraulics to operate. I bought the manual lift upgrade from woods. When you put the correct assist spring on my wife can lift the deck with one hand. You should try not to run the mower lifted its really hard on the belt. When the deck is in use the front edge should be cutting an inch lower than the trailing edge of the deck. Cutting with the deck raised increases the power required tremendously.

Well,----one that I have is set up like that and works,---- depends on the condition of the system,---but if your linkage is right it should lift yours too!

Do you know where I can get a lift assist spring? Mine doesn't have one installed

Dave, can you measure the spring for me? Length, width and approximate dia of the spring. Thanks!

I do no know what the dimensions are because I have never had one installed.
