I have to repaint my gas tank. Need a small quantity of paint. Will use a can of spray. Recommendations for paint that will hold up against an occasional shot of gas?

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Rattle cans don't have hardener in the paint.  I'm not sayin don't do it, just don't expect miracles...

IF you can't 'clear coat' then once the paint is good and hard, put 2-3 coats of hand rubbed car wax on the tank, buffing well after each coat. It'll fill in any voids and gas will roll off PDQ !

For electronics projects I've had good results with rattle can Rustoleum sometimes making panel labels with india ink covered with another later of clear Rustoleum and then baked for an hour or so at about 180 degrees F. The baking makes it set up really hard and resistant to wear.
