Seeing Dennis' post about the All-Crop with the corn head got me wondering...If I got a cylinder tach for one of my combines, but it didn't work, is there any way to fix them/have them fixed? I've had people tell me it's impossible and once it's broke, it's broke. Is this true?
Thanks

I believe the SPs used a different tach then the one you saw in the video. If you sweet talk my brother he just might let go of the one he has hanging in our shed complete with cable and nut attachment that will fit your SP. I have several  tachs for the pull types. Ryan

Thanks Ryan! That's music to my ears. Wasn't expecting to hear something like that.
While a cylinder tach on my Super 100 isn't "100"% necessary (Lol), it would be convenient since the cylinder speed adjust crank is near the operator's station. Without the tach mounted on the combine, you adjust the speed, crawl down, run to the other side of the combine with your handheld tach, get a reading from the cylinder shaft, run back, climb on the platform, adjust some more, crawl back down, run around and get another reading, etc.

As good of news as that is,  I'd still like to know if broken ones can be fixed. Seems a shame to get a working one and actually hook it up and use it if it can't be fixed if it breaks.

That's similar. The originals I've seen say 200,400....1600, etc. They have all the zeros on them.
I'm guessing that's a repro? If so, where did you get it?

I checked into it about 10 years ago and could find any place that would touch it. I did call the manufacturer of the tach and they had a 100 of them on the shelf that they destroyed 6 mouths prior.  What a waste.

What goes wrong with them? Can't be that complex.   I fix watches for a living maybe someone wants to donate me a broken one to tinker with?

If I had one, I'd send it to you!
I know where I *may* can get a broken one (needle is stuck at 450 RPM), but it's on a combine and the guy doesn't sell ANYTHING. Usually... I don't know if he'd part with a tachometer. He's a Massey guy.
