I can't figure out how to get my new to me F3 adjusted right. First it was throwing corn into the walkers and they was throwing it out the back. And it also going over the cives right out the back. It's 150 bps corn and I'm down to 1.7 mph. And the bin is very dirty with stalks and cob pieces. I moved the walkers all the way back and tried air settings but I can't get it. Thanks Shawn

I know one of the questions is going to be long or short finger chaffer? Mike

To start: 5/8" on the cylinder......500 RPM........fan at 6......long finger chaffer (top)at 3/8" open (use a 3/8" bolt for your gauge), lower sieve wide open......walkers 2 inches back from being clear forward in the slots. There are probably better settings than these, but this should work. You don't mention moisture levels, and that is important. There is a tremendous diff between 25% and 18% corn when it comes to combine performance. Your capacity is the greatest on LEVEL LAND. Any side lean can cut your capacity in half or more, depending on the slope percentage. So, if you can run 2 MPH on the flat, you might be down to 1 MPH on a side slope. I hope you have a 3 or 4 row corn head, and not a 6 row. ENGINE RPMS MUST BE FULL SPEED AND AT THE TOP OF THE RPM RANGE---GAS IS DIFFERENT (2900) THAN DIESEL (2400-2450). YOUR COMBINE IS ONLY A 500 BPH MACHINE !! SO DON'T THINK YOU CAN RUN 4 MPH IN CORN. FOUR HOPPERS AND HR IS ABOUT IT.

My corn is 17% I have a 4 /30 head. It is a slope but not much at all. I mean the bin will fill level on this slope. Why am I getting corn in the straw walkers ? I do kno my rpms is 2350 I do remember that.

i had to run my f as slow as it would go in 1st. i was only getting two hopper fulls in an hour or about 200 bushel. i had my cylinder at slightly more that 5/8ths. and 500 rpm. chaffer 3/8ths fan full blast. also i am running 3 concaves (channel) and the agressive cylinder bars. i suspect your chaffer is closed too much not letting corn fall past it. not sure on why you have corn going out the walkers are you saying you have cobs with kernals still on them walking out the back? if so cylinder adjustments needed

2350 RPM is too slow. I can tell lots of stories about inaccurate tachometers. Make absolutely sure the throttle lever on the injection pump hits the wide-open stop screw. A diesel is probably close to correct speed as long as it hits the stop....an extra 100 RPM helps.

Your pulley on the cylinder has to be 16.5 inch or 20 inch diameter....WHAT IS IT??

Half round concave at 2-4-6, good wide spaced bars, chaffer mod on long tooth chaffer and you can run as fast as it will go in 3rd gear.

crank it to 2450!! high idle.Your raddle should b throwing some corn on the front of walkers.Do you have the rizers on walkers?

a hand held tach on end of shaft is most accurate. The one in cab is adjustable so could be off.Can set cab one to real known number

Something doesn't sound right. I could get a full hopper every 15 minutes in 180 bushel corn with my F2 with 4-30 orange head. That's probably 2.5-3 mph. What is your cylinder speed.

It is a 20 inch pulley. I do have risers on the walkers. Mine is a hydro so I don't think I could stay in the seat in 3rd gear. Lol. I don't kno what the cylinder speed is. It stopped working the other night. I have cylinder set at 1/2 and lowered speed till I seen corn left on the cob and went up till it was off.

The 1 5/8" long tooth corn chaffer is a MUST for capacity and good cleaning. Look in your Operators manual for a picture of the 1 5/8" chaffer versus the 1 1/8" standard chaffer.

Wow. I couldn't even begin to think of going that fast. We are getting rain so I'll reset the machine and see what happens. Thank you

Cob pieces & stalks in grain tank, plus it's spitting corn out back, means the Chaffer is clogged with cob pieces. Clean your Chaffer/sieve. Your Hybrid might be soft cob or disease, so cylinder filler bars may help? Anyway, try opening cylinder to minimize cob breakage while also speeding up forward travel to crowd capacity on incoming ears to cylinder so more ears are threshing grain before cylinder. Opening cylinder (5/8-3/4") gives cobs room to stay whole. Slower travel speed puts fewer ears into already tight (1/2") cylinder which tends to breaks cobs.

There is always corn on walkers, but it should fall through and slide forward and fall on front of shoe. If walkers are plugged with cobs, the corn will go out the back. MACK

The return elevator is your speed monitor.Pick up ground speed til you start washing corn over in the return, then back off enough get it down to just a few kernals per paddle(10 or less?).I run a needle width under 4mph in 18% 200bu corn and don't fill the return with corn or throw it out the back. The walkers carry a bit to the chopper cause there's random kernals in adjacent rows....it still does it at 3mph so forget it.Had a 19.5 A field @17% which averaged 201bu #2 yellow corn. That's how it got picked. 4-30 black head, wide space bars,2 rasp concaves, speed up kit clean grain, modified long round tooth chaffer,3/4 clearance,550rpm,air wide open.I don't measure screens, just eyeball em.Front section chaffer 3/4,middle 1/2 +,back...a little more.Sieve 1/2?. It works for me!!!
YOU DO HAVE THE SCREENS IN THE WALKERS DON'T YOU?

Yes screens are in place. I'm going to try to open it up some and go a little faster. I'd be happy with 2.5 I kno I had some cob rot this year but not as much as I thought. I'll clean every thing up and start fresh.

Try 3mph,then stop and check the ground....the width of all 4 rows.I don't know how fast you can go in good corn with std clean grain sprocket before you slug the elevator.Years ago my cousin was picking dad's corn with an F and would plug the elevator if pushing too hard.My guess is that it didn't have speed up kit.It hasn't been said in this thred yet but the curtain above the raddle needs tied up or removed for corn.I took mine out as I only do corn and soys.Needed in wheat.

check your fan blades and choke. IF the fan blades have a build up from corn sap they will coat over and reduce air flow by as much as 50% - make sure the air choke is wide open - up away from the fan. Check to see if you ever see shucks on the sieve - if so you have an rpm or fan volume issue.
