Morning guys, I got a situation on selling a tractor.
I have been dealing with this man for over 8 years and has bought a few tractors from me and is a guy of his word. Said he is going to buy my 4w220 and now cant get hold of him with cell or email for 2 months. I hope he is alright. If he says he is going to do something, he does it and this is just weird. So I have turned down a few other guys on buying this and now I cant find there contacts of either erased text messages
or voicemails. I don't want to keep bugging him by leaving a voicemail every 2 weeks. So when do I relist this?He was going to send a down payment now and the rest in Jan. I have other friends deal with him and done same thing. Wait till Jan then. Some of me says yes, some no. So in Jan, do I put on market again?
Thoughts and looking for wisdom and advice. Darryl

2 months is long enough imo. I think what I would do as a last ditch effort is write a good old fashioned snail mail letter. If he is sick or in some other such situation, a letter will be seen by those tending him, where they may not be able to get on an email or cell phone. If the letter goes unanswered another 3-4 weeks, move on. I think you've been more than fair trying.

Put it back on the market in January.
If you have his name and address or area that he's from you can do a google search. Maybe can find info that way.

Kinda in a similar boat. Guy want's the engine out of D-14 #4, made the deal, pulled the engine(that's fun...),NOW he says can't come for weeks ! He also wants complete drawbar setup so I 'thought' it was a good deal..... IF you have room to store ,send a 'final notice' message, something pleasent like 'haven't heard from you, hope you're OK, if you can't get back to me in xx days, I need to sell tractor to another guy.... Sometimes lawn mowers get dropped off here for me to fix, no name,no nothing though pad/pen are here ! Now one I knew who owned it, he came back 5 days later ,asked about it. I told him 'oh the red one, I saved a couple parts, took the rest to scrapyard'. I loved it when his jaw dropped to the ground ! THREE WEEKS ago 'someone' dropped off a Hitachi air framing nailer and a drywall screwgun. Took me 10 minutes to fix them. Anyone want them $10,yours, shipping and handling NOT included.....

Darryl your scenario is all too common these days and I am sorry if that seems like a broad brush stroke whack at the community as it is not. There are just enough people around making commitments that never follow through that I have become cautious about what I consider sold. For several months I have sitting on three "sold" items that will sell to the next guy who approaches me with cash and that is what I suggest that you do in this case. I do hope your buyer is OK.

Darryl, kinda sounds like a situation has occurred in his world. Is there someone on here in the area that could go by there and check on the man?

You never know, back in the 1960's my dad had a guy come by and bought a disk plow that mounted on Farmall M he gave dad a deposit said he'd be back the following week.He never showed up and we just kept the plow kinda forgot about it and we had no way to contact the fellow.About a year later he shows up ,come to find out he had a heart attack the day after he came by our place so we loaded up the plow, finished the deal and all was fine.Of course something like a tractor worth a lot of $$$ is different.
