Just got a 64 series 2 lpg it's my first tractor.
Can anyone help me out with were to get parts near okla.
Maybe a value on it? It's all there runs great has power steering
Snap coupler 3 point, spinout wheels I believe there 14.9-26? Has a dual hyd. Remote I was told its not original and it's missing the tachometer
I replaced the water temp sensor and gauge and am having the generator rebuilt now.
Any info is appreciated thanks.

A lot of the vendors here can help with parts.  You can also search for an AGCO dealer close to you.  Mine is a couple of hours away, but they send me parts by courier promptly.

D15 is a great tractor.  The only weak point is the transmission jumping out of gear (usually 3rd) if the user ground the gears a lot.

I've noticed that in 3rd it pops out after you go prolly 100 yards. I wasn't sure if something was wrong or I just couldn't engage it all the way

Yes it is uncommon.
I bought my series 1 for $2500.00 for it.
Mine did not jump out of any gears, power steering and it had wider rear tires and fronts.

Joe are you seeing this ? Maybe those propane D-15 Ser II are more common than you think . Just kiddin , messin with Desert Joe . Those are rare , have only seen a few at shows over the years and have only heard of a few on here . Snap Coupler may make it desirable as every propane Ser II D-15 I have seen had a factory 3 pt .
Question , was curious about the brake lock , is it a pie shaped brake holder or a ratchet style brake latch ? I could not make it out in the photos . Have seen both styles on the Ser II 15 and D-17 Ser IV

You only need to know 3 things to be a plumber;Crap rolls down hill,Hot is on the left and Don't bite your fingernails

The brake latch has a rod that goes to a sprocket looking plate w teeth to lock the brakes you hold the petal down an pull the rod I'll try to get more pics up its at my inlaw's so I can't run outside to it lol

Can anyone tell me why the engine an frame have yellow paint under the orange? Was it repainted? Or is that the primer or what?

Posted By: Sandknob
Date Posted: 07 Nov 2016 at 8:14pm
Yellow chromate primer. The original painters got pretty sick from that primer if I remember correctly.

Posted By: dcwheeler
Date Posted: 07 Nov 2016 at 8:28pm
Oh dang so is it like lead paint or something like that I'm obviously not gona go eating it haha but I guess I know now we're there any other colors on the old allis chalmers besides orange? I've seen older ford's industrial ones were yellow sometimes that's what got me to wondering about it

Posted By: Sandknob
Date Posted: 07 Nov 2016 at 8:31pm
Yes some industrials were yellow. I think other colors could be ordered as well. I don't think it's too dangerous now, it had something to do with the fumes from it I believe. We actually still use it at work to paint propane tanks. Darn good stuff too.

production numbers for D15 LP's, according to Norm's book, says 51 were produced in 1961, and 31 in 1962, and data not available for 1963 through 1968. Now I would say that with all LP production in a downward trend during this era, I'd be hard pressed to say that LP production would have jumped drastically during any of the years following 1962. That being said, Some would say there is no proof that you have a rare one, but I would say that all signs point towards it being rare. Darrel

That's good to know on the paint.
And that's awesome what is this book your talking about? Is it available some were? And from what your saying it sounds rare to me but either way I think this old girl has a home every time I drive it I like it more an more it's definitely got me wanting more of them haha I'd like to restore it someday yet idk if I should I kinda like the look it has now also.

The book I am getting the info out of was written by Norm Swinford. He was an employee of Allis Chalmers for years. He wrote a few books, one being this one that has everything you'd ever want to know about allis chalmers farm equipment. I am not even sure about availability of it any more. I've had mine for years. Someone else may be able to help out with that. Darrel

Have it's twin sitting in the barn as bought it years ago thinking I would end up finding my place in the country that was equipped with a large LPG tank for home heating, etc. Ended up with a place that is all electric so have put maybe 2 hours on mine in the nearly 10 years I've owned it. Took two trips when I bought it as it came with plenty of A-C SC equipment and that does get used for sure. Mine was reportedly rebuilt (engine) then put away for parades when they bought a new green unit for the horse operation. Tell you this for sure, it will easily out-power the gas units I have but they are a bit tired.

Do u have any pics tim? Sounds like a nice one I wish I had more impliments to play with for mine lol an I bought a propane tank it's a 120gal. Which idk if you knew but u can fill it with 96 liquid but still that's about 9 or 10 tanks worth in mine and I brush hog alot it only cost me $140 for the tank and it was 110$ to fill it up I set it on some blocks by my inlaw's barn I didn't buy the pump because they arnt cheap lol but if you run the tractor down to about 10% the pressure will fill it it only takes about 15 or 20 min

Posted By: dcwheeler
Date Posted: 08 Nov 2016 at 10:18am
I forgot to mention tho if you look into getting a tank make sure it has the liquid valve on it with a down pipe internal if not u would only get vapor pressure I'll try to get a pic of my tank for ya if your interested and I work at a place that actually sells them lol

Have a tank to fill it but gasser is easier for continuous use. Have to get around to dropping it and gooseneck off at LP dealer as now smack in the middle of new sales area and gauge/gasket and all valves need re-done before serious use. Leave it in morning and pick it up on way home as should not need anything else. Fuel system was upgraded years ago and those LP's sure do run smooth.
Jeepers, you are gonna get me motivated to get the old girl out and use her. Seen your PM also, shoot me your e-mail and I'll forward pics.

I have seen alot of Allis tractors here on the east coast, but no lpg tractors. They must not have been ordered here much. Dad has a 1968 series II he bought new, but it's gas. I would say its really rare here.

So far everyone says lpg is uncommon but I know since I've had it the last few months I've had my eye out for more I've seen 3 lpg and that's the only old allis chalmers I've seen and I seen them with my eyes not online lol but I've still been curious about how many they really made but everyone says it's not in the books which kinda sucks I'd really like to know

Hey Darrel and Pat,,,,thanks for thinkin bout me in these stressful times,,,,WinkWink
I been spending so dang much time messin with the dang election and an sure GLAD it's finally over so I can get back to tractor'in and finishin up on the 55,,,,Clap

Welcome to the Allis group,  DC, and you got you a great lookin tractor there,,,,And havin been an owner of a D15IILPG, I be glad to help you if I can on yours.
As Darrel tells you,,those Series II LPG models are very rare according to Norm's book that Darrel quotes out of. The one I had was a 1963 model and based on the low number that were built in the 2 preceding years, Darrel and I  figured there were approximately 32 built in 1963. Now,,,,ONLY 32 built in any given year would make any tractor pretty rare, according to the girls I go with,,,,,,WinkClap
I did lots and lots of research on the Series II LPG's, made many, many calls, sent lots and lots of  Emails, I looked at literally thousands of pictures in youtube videos of parades, tractor shows and personal collections and just generally made a nuisance of myself in trying to locate one that had an original Series II LPG decal and finally was referred to an Allis Chalmers collector up in Canada that had just purchased a Series II LPG in south Texas that had most of the original decal in good enough condition to copy and reproduce. George gave me the dimensions and sent me pictures where I could get 2 decals reproduced by a company in Iowa.  I will say,,,in my many searches, I found a grand total of SIXTEEN D15 II LPG tractors,,,That's MY story,,,,,,,Clap PS,,,I know ole Tim down in Ft Worth has one and ole AJ just got himself one as well,,,,,,
Your Series II LPG is way better lookin than mine was when I got it, but slowly and surely you will get to where you are ready to shoot some paint on it unless you gonna leave it as is,,,??? I think some of my Series II pics are still in my file manager if you would like to see some of them,,,,,??
Good luck with your project, and don't hesitate to ask questions,,,,Clap

Thanks desertjoe and that's awesome and kinda crazy about how far you went to find out about them I kinda feel like that's what I've been doing but not to that extreme lol I'd really like to restore it someday yes but time and money are key in restoration lol which I don't have much of either right now lol but I also like the look it has now too I'm kinda torn between the two I figured I'll leave it as is until I get another one to work with an use this one for a show girl maybe light work. If you know of any advice, special tools, books, parts anything about it I'd love to know it I'm writing what all I learn in a folder so I kinda have a go to guide for when I need it. I've found a few places in my state that also deal with these an old tractors I'm trying to get my busy schedule worked out were I can go to the places and see what I can learn and what they have. I'd love to see pics of your lpg if ya don't mind!

Do you still have tabs on were those other 16 lpg are at?
As I said earlier I've seen 3 other allis lpg recently now I'm not sure if there d15 series2 or what I made the mistake of just driving by (I regret) but there's one close by I'm wanting to go back an see if it's there the other 2 I seen way down in south east Arkansas

As of about a year ago I knew locations of 22 series 2 LPs. I know of 5 series 1 LPs. I spoke to a guy recently who claims he has 3 D15 LPs. I did talk to an older gentleman early last year he was from northern Illinois, I think he was in his 80s. He worked for Allis back in the day and he evidently had something to do with the ordering of the tanks back in the day for many of the LP tractors Allis made. He made implications there were more than we thought made. He claimed at the time Allis made 985 D14s, 322 D15 (series 1)(seem to be the most scarce now),  364 D15 (series 2) (996 total), 4200+/- D17s that was spread out through the series. Later series many fewer made. He claimed there was 240 D19s and 112 190s made. Now I'm not sure if these number are accurate but he seemed to be pretty sharp and knew what he was talking about, he and I spoke on the phone for almost 3 hours, he was a talker. He also said that Allis and Ensign almost didn't work together due to a patent issue that eventually was resolved. I think he was a rep or something. I don't recall his name, maybe someone on here knows this guy. Seems like his name was Jerry or Gregory, something like that.

  "" 364 D15 (series 2)""

There ya have it ,,,dc,,,364 series II LPG tractors over the 8 year production period equates to approximately 45 per year, although according to the info Darrel is quoting out of Norm's Bible, there were more made in the earlier years than the later years. What year is yours,,?
dc,,I did not keep record of where the D15 Series II LPG I saw as I was lookin thru many videos of many collections and parades.  Larry Karg, who used to be associated with Hutch also sent me several links to files he knew of and there were many, many pics of many models of AC tractors,,,,biggest problem is the older I get,,,the more I remember,,,,???LOLLOL
I think, tho,,that I still have pics of a few of the series II LPG models I located in my old phone, so I'll look and post em for you.

Mines a 1964 I think? The numbers are kinda hard to read I've got it down to either D15 18530. Or d15 18590 and I looked on Google for serial numbers and from what I seen it put mine as a 64 I could be wrong ?
