Just noticed my 17 has oil comming out the engine breather and running down side of the block I was brush hogging with the tractor. The engine is in fairly good shape starts good no noises with good compression and doesn't burn oil never had any problems with it. If you take the breather off the oil is being sprayed against the breather from the valve train. Is there a shield inside or something that may have broke off to stop the spray? Haven't taken the valve cover off yet. Maybe oil passage blocked and oil can't drain from cover? Is that possible? It's a Ser IV gas.

Crowman17, There is a shield on top of the rocker arms. Pull the valve cover and see what is going on in there.

Make sure the oil feed line to the rocker arm shaft isn't broken off.

Dr. Allis, you were right the oil tube to the rocker assembly popped out of hole and was spraying oil all over. Two minute fix thank goodness. New $17 valve cover gasket done good as new.
