| I was told that there is a D17 LP sitting down the road from me. I may go try and look at it tomorrow. Is it just a d 17 with a different tank and carb set up? Anyone use these things anymore? |

Factory LP will have the fill valves on the side. Mine is a convert. I use mine every winter and fall/spring. It is a really nice tractor.

| We have one that has been as faithful of tractor as we could ask for for almost 50 years now. LP parts (regulators, etc) are hard to come by and more expensive than a simple carb kit. Sheet metal is different, and the pistons are different for higher compression, but other than that, it should be like any other 17. As Will pointed out, a factory tank will also be headed the opposite direction than his is. Good luck! |

| I always thought one could be slick and fill his LP tractor with the pre-bought LP from ones home heat propane tank. The pre-buy price last fall was less than $1.50 per gallon. Does the "mileage" of a propane tractor equal that of a gasser? |

LP burns cleaner than pretty much any other fuel, so engine life is usually quite a bit longer. I have a wet line on my propane tank to fill my tractor. It works very well and I can also fill my 20# tanks. Under a load the tractor will burn more LP than gas but it never fails to start and the oil looks brand new even after a year of use.
