mine is a 1955 WD45D
Did the WD45 Diesel have a heavier narrow front bolster than the gas engine models?
Here are the numbers found on the bolster 2-1-D   AM

No, I don't think so. But I could be wrong.

Parts book shows a serial number break for the pedistal that could be swapped from wide to single to trike wheels at 183053 and below and 186413 and above.  Oddly enough, the AGCO online parts book subs the WC front pedistal to the WD/WD45 front.  Obviously it'd fit, but according to the pullers, the WC one was lighter by a fair amount.

most 45d front bolsters i have seen, both wide and norrow front, can be identified by the thin head fill plug in the front for filling with gear oil.

Like Dave posted, the the best way to tell if it's got the latter front end is to look for the fill plug on the front. The  WD45's after ser # 183055 in a narrow front are the same unit gas or Diesel, the wide fronts where up dated a little latter on some where around ser # 184xxx again gas or Diesel same units, all early fronts wide or narrow will work on gas tractors but not on Diesel's if engine has the two grove pulley on the front of the engine.

-------------
3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep.
