I am looking at a 7050 on a auction. It has about 6000 hrs on it.  What I want to know is are there any weak spots to look for? Tranny, hydraulics, or engine wise with this number of hours on it?  I am going to drive it before the sale and will have the oportunity to really inspect it. I plan to use it for a dozer and chore tractor. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks

there were many improvement from the 7050 to the 7060 and the later '60s, to many to detail here.  Basicly a solid tractor, Id change all fluids and look and the rod and main bearings, cause you know know how well its been maintained in the past.  Usually the air cond doesnt work.  HTH

They have mentioned on here about the rear axle seals leaking between the wear bushing and axle. I think this is just on the 7030's and 7050's though. My 7050 leaks around in. Other than that theres not really anything that sets them apart from the other models that im aware of.

I love my 7050. One axle leaks around that seal retainer. AC doesn't work and for me as of yet it's too expensive to fix. I replaced the alternator, fuel gauge, a remote hyd cable, foot clutch cable, repaired the range cable, and replaced the 1800 rpm trans pressure sender unit, ball joints on steering cylinder and bushings on the right front spindle (previous owner hadn't greased that side cause it wouldn't take grease and was packed so hard with dirt it took a 16# mall and the weight of the tractor to drive it out after flipping the axle upside down, what a job! Hard to believe it steered at all without breaking something). I've owned it since 1997 and put 1000 hours on it. The cables were bad cause it sat a few years without use. I am the second owner and it's got almost 5,000 hrs of which about 200 are from leaving the key on more than once. Best tractors of their day. Mine's a 1974.
