These are for ALL tractors, but mainly Allis. I don't know where I got all this information. Most of it is from here, but some is from other sites and from the manufacturers themselves. So, here's what you need to know. I know there will be a lot of others that add to this, so have at it. I have only confirmed the AC early persian orange, sometimes referred to as "persian #1", as 60080. Most of the codes should be available in most, if not all, current PPG automotive paint chemistries, including the economy OMNI line. See your local PPG jobber for details. I'm pretty confused by some of the paint codes....Why are there so many Ford reds and grays, JD green and yellows, MM golds and reds, oliver greens, etc? Ex: Ford Gray------------------------------------------------------ 30570 Ford Gray------------------------------------------------------ 32663 Ford Gray (1948 & 1954)----------------------------------- 32675 Ford Yellow--------------------------------------------------- 82536 Ford Light Yellow-------------------------------------------- 82549 Ford Red------------------------------------------------------- 2833 Ford Red (1947)---------------------------------------------- 70075 Ford Light Red------------------------------------------------ 72598 Ford Tractor Vermillion (1949)---------------------------- 3155 Ford Tractor Vermillion------------------------------------- 70205 Which one is which? I know the gray on the 9N's and 2N's were darker than the 8N gray, but the red on the 8N's, Jubilee, and I believe 800 series were the same. So why so many different codes? Just trying to make sense of all this. Thanks! |

It all had to do with the year of manufacture. Just like PO paint. PO #1 and PO#2. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the first listed is the early paint and then somewhere along the way it changed (unless noted). HTH Creston. AND every batch was not the same. There were some variances in each lot and some were noticeable. |

| Why can't they just invent a machine that you just pour paint into, and it breaks it down into its components so you can see exactly what's in it, etc.? Then you could buy a quart of PO#1 from AGCO, pour it in, and get the code and adapt it for a real high-quality paint. |

Because your B is 77 years old. It, like us, has faded over the years. Depending on how much time they have sat in the sun, two tractors off the line, one in front of the other, will be different colors now also. NOTHING looks like the original paint, but now a days, they are close. I would imagine that the original paint had lead in it. Now......not in this day and age. ------------- "Allis-Express" 19?? | I am having Sherwin Williams auto paying scan and match the inner part of thr grille, the paint looked pretty good as no sun or grease got to it. I was stunned at the cost of the GC industrial paint, it is top quality but WOW. |

I would not waste any time and money looking for a clean spot of paint on a 1938 B thinking if I could match it perfect it would be the exact color orange this B was when new. Your dreaming. The accepted PO#1 for a long long time has been what you get when you mixed single stage PPG Omni using the PPG formula #60080. Match a sprayout or a part recently painted with PPG 60080 and be happy Jonny with what you got using what ever paint brand or type that floats your boat and pocket book. To me the correct color orange is everything anybody sees. In your case match PPG 60080. Hershal Adams and Vansikle PO#1 come awefull close ready mixed |

| It scoped out with a Sherwin Williams pre mix color exactly, I bought the GS series single stage and some epoxy primer to go under. I would imagine that the PPG code matches the Sherwin code, either way I smeared a dab on the inside of the grille and it is an exact match. Just a lot shinier gloss of course over the lead base or lacquer they used, not sure what the original base composition was but it sure was tough paint to hold up to 75 years of weather and dirt work. |

You would not believe how transparent most auto paint orange and yellows are. Over different color primers, Example, Red verses Gray, you would swear the finish coats are different colors out of the same can. Just as a test spray a clear pane of glass with any AC orange and see how many coats of color it takes to completely block out sunshine. |

| I went with a grey base, the pigment is pretty heavy. I tried it on some plexy glass, it covered well with one coat. I am sending a sample to Jet Hot to have my manifold thermal ceramic coated to match inside and out. You can't buy a new one and it will absorb less heat also improving incoming air density. I have the original data tag and manifold in really nice condition. |

Lots of good info there Ted. I am repainting a 1979 8550 and have the orange and cream colors from a part # and name from Cloverdale Paints. Enamel and seems to go on pretty nice although it is pretty thin and needs several coats. I am just prepping the cab roof for paint and it appears to be white as opposed to the cast wheel centers that are cream. Is it white because it is faded from 38 years of sun? Or is it supposed to be cream or beige like the wheels? TIA. A picture of my last paint job in November- 1983 8070

anyone know a code for the maroon used on 7000 series? We are having a local paint store mix it up, but would sure make it easier if we had a recipe to ensure it's correct! Meijer had (9/13/2019) 12oz rattle cans of Rust-oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Gloss Real Orange on sale two for $4.50. When I tried it out, it seemed to have a nice pumpkin orange color - I just hope it doesn't fade to pink on my 1951 CA. I'm trying to find out if Lowes will mix it in gallon cans. I could only find one place that would quote mixing the Persian Orange #1 paint (using formulation given above) - that was KOI Auto Parts (Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana). $359/gallon, $111/quart and $30/rattle can + sales tax. That's too much $ for me.

Since no one has answered, I will take a stab. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the 8000 series used the "Tractor and Equipment Orange". Copied and pasted from the first page of this post:

I have a late 7020 and I took a stab and had the 60691 mixed for it. It is definitly not it. It is even too yellow I think for Persian #1. My paint supplier is tinting it to match the underside of a panel that still looks new. ------------- '59 D14 '68 170 Diesel '81 7020 40 All Crop |

| A 7020 (and all tractors built from late 1977 til ?? were called "Corporate Orange" and that color ain't listed there, It is different than either of the Persian Orange colors. |

I would have used Agco paint if I had a dealer handy. I painted some Oliver parts a few years ago with Agco paint and it was some of the best paint I have ever used.
