If i can figure out to post video I will but for the first time in 60+ years the L ran and moved under its own power. Now fellas…. how in the blankitty blank am I going to get these steering clutches broke loose…. she going back and forth fine but there is absolutely nothing there for steering. I've got an HD21… was thinking of dragging it around to try to get them to bust loose. I REALLY don't want to have to tear into it to break them loose. I hated it when I had to do it to the K. Any suggestions guys? Thanks for the help.

i had my buddys d2 at our shop last summer the engine clutch would not move the steering clutches would not disengauge. we drug it to the shop and filled the compartments with diesel ( these are dry compartments ) with it running and steering clutches tied back and chained to a four wheel drive john deere we got the enginge clutch to start to move (disc rusted to the flywheel) make it hit the end of the chain and backing upagian and letting it hit the end of slack chain a bunch of times( with the levers tied back) then they finally started to slip drained the compartments and washed the inside down with solvent then as the rust would shin off we just kept adjusting the cluthes brakes and engine clutch in by the time for plow day it was just perfect it took two of us a full day the cat had only sat about five years.

only 5 years… thats what I'm worried about. this one sat for SIXTY. it just really stinks. we've put so much time into getting it running and now this…. really wanted to run it around today.

If the engine clutch wasn't stuck you might be lucky with the steering.
Otherwise looks like time on the "straight and narrow path"

if you can loosen up all the likages and they are free then filler up with diesel it will go but them 95 degree days really help them parts soak, had a guy talking about bringing an M crawler to us but it has been in a shed for forty years, you got me worried now

I feel your pain but i wouldnt get too carried away jerking on things. When something breaks, you just cant go to the dealer and order parts. The monolithic power train is a bear, meaning you have to pull engine to get to main clutch, but i think it would be worth the effort to at least free engine clutch. After that you could douse the steering clutches with diesel and try to work them loose but I would plan on having to pull them out. you may get lucky though
on re read, you didnt post anything about main clutch. i guess i picked that up from one of the replies. definitely let is soak for a while

guess i wasn't clear fellas. the main clutch is free. the steering clutches and brakes are whats froze up. the linkages move but its internal. I think once i start messing with it I might get it. I got the carbs and valves adjusted really well today. i think tomorrow will be the day to really start going back and forth and seeeing what kind of results i get.
