Were any H3 or HD3's painted orange from the factory?

I see people have painted ones, but they could have done that, but the unrestored orange ones I see look like someone went through a whole lot of trouble to make orange.

I also see model H3's painted orange.

A couple of years ago I asked on here why identical models were sold new in either color and the response I got was that Ag dealers that brought in and sold bulldozers etc got them in the orange color. The orange flavor that I have detected from parts of my H3 as well as other machines I have seen appears to be a darker orange (maybe what you refer to as industrial orange) than the Persian ag-orange.

Per factory spec sheets... Allis Chalmers H3 Crawlers could be painted whatever color the customer ordered at extra cost.

The majority of the H3 were Industrial Lorain Yellow - typically equipped with a Hard Nose Grill.  If the H3 was sold under a Farm Machinery Dealer/Contract then the crawler was painted orange and had a grill very similar if not a duplicate to a D15 farm tractor.

Hope this helps...Happy Holiday Old School!  Wish you would go track down that beautiful HD10 you had!
