If you can't get a part , build it up with an RSP rod and file it back to shape. I did this with the bevel gear dog clutch on my Cat 17a D7 Hyster D7D winchs the welds are easy to file but work harden in use

Doug, been working on this for you since we talked on the phone. The options are going away pretty fast out here anymore. Talked to Northwest Tractor Parts, Portland area, specialize in used winch parts CARCO, HYSTER . They scrapped out most of the of the old J-10 models when scrap was up because they haven't sold any of those parts for many years. I think it was Darrell I talked to thought they might have one that had to much water, moisture damage to be a good part. He also commented that he has had 4 or 5 calls in the last couple of days for that part which he thought was strange. I told him it was an AC FOURM thing where everyone trys to help other members. (don't know if that counts the 3 emails I sent that they didn't answer, so I called).  I'll keep looking.

So donoman is not to far of the mark either. We loaned a CARCO I think model F to a friend 30 years ago because he said he just wanted it for balance on his HD11. We knew it was very tired but knew it wouldn't matter if he wasn't going to use it anyway. Well before he put it on he decided to take it apart to see how bad it was. He ended up welding up 3 or 4 teeth and grinding and massaging them with a file until they were almost perfect. He used it quite a bit before the tractor got burned up on a wildfire he was working on. We got the winch back and made him buy us some new control cables that we could use later since we still had several of those winches in service. (it was scrapped also)

Thanks MEl,yeah those other calls were mine.AFter I talked with you I called carco and they said everything for the model j was obsolete and has been for years. I did find out that it was made in Nov of 1955.Someone adapted that winch to the tractor I bought in Texas which is a 73 model. They did a good job. Anyway carco said the only place that may have it is northwest,Marvin said he has a ring gear and is still looking for a Pinon and adjusting nut.
