Anyone know where I can purchase what ever is missing from the top of my air cleaner on my D-15 Series I industrial tractor? Most pictures I see have solid caps (that I have seen for sale) but I seem to have a threaded bolt. Thanks.

Original I think ti would have had one of the mushrooms caps with a corse screen to keep the bugs out. That is an oil bath air cleaner with a set of steal screens and the bottom bowl is filled would a Fill line with oil. 30 weight used motor oil works well if you change the oil often it needs to be changed out pretty often and check it every day when you start the tractor if you value your motor.

It looks to me like your tractor was upgraded to the glass bowl air intake cover somewhere over the years.   If it was mine I would get the mushrooms cap. Both can be found at about any parts place. Below is a link to the different types.

I do not see a bowl on the bottom of that oil bath air cleaner!  That is more important than having the top cap.  Without the bowl, your air cleaner is useless!  Dirty air getting into your engine = $$$ for a new engine.

Good point not sure how I missed that in the photo. It should look like this.

Yes, I see now that the bowl is missing. I can only hope the previous owner did not run it like this with no cap and no bowl. Time will tell. Thanks for taking a look.

I would pull the two steal wool like screens out of the air cleaner from the bottom.   It isn't easy to get the bottom inside peice off but the screens are probably full of dust and crud and need to be cleaned or replaced.   The two screens will tell you a lot about the state of the motor. If they are pretty clean then there is a good chance the motor is ok. The first time you try to work it hard you will know if the motor has been "dusted" or not. The same thing happens if people don't check the oil level in the air cleaner if they are maintained they do a great job of protecting the motor. I would also call the person you bought the tractor from and ask him if he has the bowl for the bottom of the air cleaner no harm in asking even if the sale was as is where is a honest person might have it and help you out.
