I just purchased a 1969 AC HD3 loader and I have started to change all the filters and fluids. I replaced the air filter, the fuel filter, and the filter on the hydraulic tank, but I cannot find an engine oil filter. I looked in the manual and it shows the filter should be mounted on the side of the engine but it is not there. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the forum! Does the engine in the picture look exactly like yours except for the filter? Wish you best with your new toy!

Sorry for not clarifying that I meant the picture in your manual. I wondered if per off chance someone had put a different engine into your machine?

I understand what you mean now, my bad. Yes the engine looks to be the same as all the photos I have seen, and it looks like it has been in the track loader for years. I cannot think of why someone would remove the filter assembly but I see no bracket, or lines capped off. I will start it and raise the bucket so I can get under it for a better look but from the top and side I see nothing that even resembles an oil filter. I had a thought that maybe because it was a track loader AC located the filter assembly somewhere else but I think I am grasping at straws. Thanks

I assume it is a diesel engine from the D in HD3?

HD3's could be diesel or gas.  Same motors as D-15 tractors...

Dave: Do you know if HD3's became the model name for both diesel and gas in a certain year or serial #? I had one with a 149 gas and it was called H3 (without the D) right on the front page of the manual.

Thanks for the filter part numbers. I have yet to locate where the filter would be on my HD3 track loader. Unless it is remotely located somewhere other than the engine, it has been removed. I do not see any lines, or a filter bracket, and I am sure the manufacture did not produce it with no engine filter.

Could it be behind the engine or even under the floorboards?

I looked on the back side of the engine and could not find it but I did not look under the floorboards. I plan to lift the bucket and get under the loader this weekend to see what I can find. Thanks
