with a ripper attached , that was an 80 ton tractor... assume the ripper was 10 tons, that leaves the tractor and blade above at 70 tons. Assuming 80% traction, it could drag 56 TONS thru the trap !.

I think you mistook pounds for tonnage, 80,000# is but 40 tons, rippers sat in around the 10,000# mark not tons.

Don, a fully loaded 41B was around 160,000 pounds, or 80 tons. It had a 18-20 yard blade which would be about 50- 60 tons of "push"
