Well the Adirondack H-3 is finally home.
It has been at rest since the Blizzard of 1977, with the right steer clutch out. Life spent as a topsoil machine 963 blade and a very nice Undercarriage. Right side steering clutch has been rebuilt and ready to install. Left side housing show light fluid in the bottom of the housing to the lower level of the brake band. A few question for the Sage Steering Clutch guys: Here goes; 1. Assuming the machine has leaking seals and races on transmission side so will drain the steering clutch case and refill transmission. If seals on transmission are leaking was there an improvement during the H4 and 650 series for the seals and races. 2. If test 1 above does not show leakage from the transmission I will move to the final drive sprocket side. Same question was there an upgrade for the seals and races for the final drive to steer clutch housing? 3. Anyone supply a part number for one or either of the seal and race kits for the above? 4. Are the seals and races only available through Minn Parr or can they be crossed to other vendors. Backstory to the above, track excellent shape as well as the rolls, sprocket and idler. I would like to gather up the parts to do this repair once and be ready for moving firewood with it this fall. Thank- you in advance for any good insights!....Orangeman

I don't know how easy or hard it is to do a search on this forum and be successful but I'm sure I've seen informative posts in the past on these seals from guys with good experience on these model machines. I used to follow these posts regularly when I had my H3. As the old saying goes...you're smart if you learn from your experiences but even smarter when you learn from someone else's experiences

Hi EricB:
Good to hear from you. Question, when you had your H-3 do you remember what gauge 2" gauge was in the right hand side below the temperature gauge on the instrument panel. I was leafing through some of the old post that show the H-3 with the 1066 loaders on them and noticed that yours had a gauge at that location. My machine has an open hole at the location and was thinking I should put a seperate hour meter in that hole for the oil. As always appreciate your good insights! Thank-you...Orangeman

I've been thinking and thinking about that gauge and I have yet to remember what it was for. If and when it comes back to me I'll be sure to let you know
