Shattercane if they have a manual trip plow, throw a chain on and trip the plow to get him out of the way. Hydraulics, wellllll that's kinda another problem. Your club or group should have a tractor with loader to unload and reload plows, cause many will come in loaded in front or in such a way that they will not slide down the ramps. Maybe some extra cans of gas just in case, and there will already be enough chains to pull stuff with. I think you said this was a virgin run, but you guys will definitely be planning for next year before the sun goes down. We had about 28 tractors and plows this year and were limited to 4 bottoms. Last year we had a couple of horses with 6's and 4-5 5 bottoms. 40 acres lasted ONE and a HALF hours. We started an hour before dinner and finished up after dinner. I got to make 1 round with my 45 and one half round with my WD and No. 2 2 btm.  Sure hope this helps, and get ready for some "real" fun! After all is done the farm operator will likely have to chisel two times crossways to level the field. Lots of guys dont know how to set the plows, but it will be fun anyway! I think my e-mail is listed un the pull down at left and I'll help anyway I can. Joe

One thing I thoght would bring out comments is the operator on that really nice John Deere GP with trip plow. That fellow is maybe 8 years old this year and he first plowed with us last year. The ONLY thing he needs an adult for is to get that beast started. After that point he does nothing but trip the plow where he's supposed to,drive to the other end, trip the plow where he's supposed to and back again. That little fellow did more plowing than most of the adults. And had to stand all afternoon to see! View his pictures and you'll see him "horseing" the tractor back straight!!  Power steering my aunt fannie! So fun to watch him!!!!!!!

That is some good info Dipstick, I think we are cutting our teeth on a 30 acre patch, but I told the land owner (also a antique enthusiast) that he would have to open it up as there are some terraces and a waterway that could get tore up if he didn't lead the way. That being said, the loader is also a must I would assume. Hopefull in the next few years we'll get up to a 40 or maybe an 80; however, I don't think I want to bounce around more than an hour or two on the ol' girls. I don't know that I have it in me as I am from the air conditioned farming generation. Thanks !!!

Shattercane I'll be glad to help, 'specially since you'll probably be using some of that "other" good orange equipment. LOL I cut my teeth on a 37 WC, but spent a lot of seat time on a 53 DC with a believe it or not 3-14 David Bradley plow trip plow. Where's Aurora? Im familiar with US 36 over to Washington and then I would go north to Fairburry, Ne. hauling seed corn. We had a customer at Holton, Ks also.

AC WD45, couldn't stand the suspense anymore so I called Tom Zickmund owner, operator, rebuilder of the Turbo H-D. He told me that was a Mitsubishi Diesel out of a Dodge pickup. I've talked to him about it before and there was quite a bit of mods to make it work. If anything its even prettier in person than in a picture. He does excellent work and has done a few other tractors, all of them just as nice.
