Seems as usual the weather is not helping!!  Wind screaming out here, bloody cold, have heard but six shots ALL DAY.  Snowed South and East, BIL and Nephew in Salem MO came to town for Breakfast as a Heavy Wet snow was on and they decided to wait it out rather than get soaked.  The old farm there got 3", east of there accumulations got to as much as 7.5".  Here just Damp, Blistering Wind Cold and everything LAYING Down.

Well that ain't no fun. Could be worse? One year during 1st season shotgun, weather was so bad they gave them a second season. My aunt relayed a story told by former Vikings coach Bud Grant where he survived a storm when in his teens that killed several hunters on Veterans Day. Also a story of her father as a trucker got stranded and walked to farmers house for shelter same day.
I had better luck. Brought home 2 deer today taken with the bow and arrow and beat the snow squall.

Wow, no wind this morning but 15 degrees for central MO is a little crazy for this time of year.
Maximum use of available resources!

Nice. Colder than normal here as well. No wind yet and the sun is out! Would be a good morning for a sit in the stand

Bagged my first 2022 deer this evening. A mature doe ~ 140-150lbs? Crossbow double lunged her from our house upstair’s bedroom window @ 40yds. She’s been reported, dressed, skinned, quartered, rolled in canvas tarp, placed inside gravity wagon side discharge door@ 27 degrees tonight. Tomorrow I debone meat to refrigerator for a few days rest/blood drain, then grind up 4 parts venison to 1 part pork bacon, mix with breakfast sausage seasoning, ziplock bag 1-2# & into freezer.

have seen a few here, I don't hunt them but talked with a few local poachers and they haven't been very lucky either! one small car did tag one near my driveway the other night, but it ran off and the car stayed! no pretty here yet, but have the cold wind from them silly Canadians leaving their doors open again! the "machine" is up and running nicely! enjoy it while you can!

Biggest influence has been Moonlight, been very bright here since opening morning, they get out and eat in that moonlight. Bucks are just starting to move daylight hours attempting to find a mate but most lay down dawn to dusk.

Just took trash out of shop(10 am), Services on my Winter Pretty removal tools!!  As dumped paper goods in burn barrel(wind has subsided) saw a different color out to end of field by house.  Sure enough small buck and at least two other deer I Believe were Does.  Spooked at my stopping, ran back into trees at around 250-300 yards out.  Well not this year for Firearm season but will as of next have my stand up closer to house, at end of the field I spotted them in.
