At Walmart. I keep hearing it but had to see for myself. Went to get my wife a Birthday card and decided to look around.
There was still some overpriced chicken and some turkey burger and that was it. 150’ long meat dept was basically empty.
We keep a freezer full and just bought another. Our kid going to school in Lincoln Nebraska can’t find anything and has no room for a freezer.
About buying that freezer, Jenny spent 4 hrs on the phone Thursday calling every appliance store within 250 miles from here and even some in Co, Ks and Neb where we have family. Nothing. A Lowe’s in Springfield mo happened to get one in that day. She bought it and we picked it up that afternoon.
We’re now looking at buying a half or quarter beef in Ks or Nebraska. She’s going to Nebraska for kids graduation next weekend.

Bought a side about a month ago. Wait time wasn't bad. Last time we did we had kids all over the house. Kinda pricey between then and now. We split it up between two of the kids and ourselves. Saw this coming so we should be set for awhile.

Butchered my half beef in March. We usually butcher in Jan but had to much going on. Cows were killed end of feb age for 2 weeks at 38 deg I still had 1/2 dozen hamburger. A prime rib and 2 packs of steaks from last year moved them to the top. The 6 pounds of bacon should last awhile and I can get chickens and ham from the hoots if I need to I should be set for a year.

As is only the Wife and I put in my normal order for a annual Quarter Beef with a local, said already had his entire stock load sold so started looking around. Previous PT employer's daughter and SIL have a Beef farm advertised sides and quarters so made a order, was accepted early March then noted was selling more than had so put off to end of May, that has again been extended to end of June. May have to look elsewhere yet again as need to reload with bottom is showing in freezer.

Seems they will sell halves but push out quarters as not so in demand.

Hutterites. They have a colony about 8 miles from my house. think of them as Amish that embrace technology. they supply stores within 100 miles from here with eggs they run a refridgerate delivery truck several times a week. they have 70,000 chickens here and I try to get most of my eggs from them. the eggs are real fresh when I show up early I sometimes have to wait a couple minutes as they box my some as they come out of the cleaner sorter line. I also pick up whole chickens and fresh bacon from the meat shop. the colony is closed right now for coronovirus but I can meet off the colony and get if I call first.

Our "Miniature Super Wal-Mart", Wal-Mart's name, not mine, has been almost out of meat, margarine and butter, toilet paper, & various other things on our last 2 visits.  Super Wal-Mart 20 miles away is much better stocked.
