I have a 52 CA with a model 8 trip loader and snap coupler blade. I'd like to mount Both to the tractor without the hydraulics interfering with one another. Is a diverter valve what I'm needing? If so, would I need to reroute the lift cylinders along with the loader cylinders directly to the diverter valve with one line from the pump to the valve? Any recommendations on a good reasonalbly price valve?
Any other suggestions on how to accomplish this? Thanks

Put a gate valve, in the line going to the lift cyls, for the loader. Raise the loader to a comfortable height, then close the gate valve, and the rear cyls will raise as they should, normally. A word of caution, don't raise the loader up very high, keep it low, and you probably will have enough oil left in the reservoir to raise up the rear cyls, without running the pump dry.

The valve will need to have a 3500 psi rating. Not many gate valves can handle that. A ball valve would be better and easier to use.

I have used one of these on my WD for about 20 years.....it's not rated for 3,500 PSI so I can't recommend it. I have seen a few postings on here over the years where other guys are using the same valve. I have it set up so that when the valve is forward, the front bucket is operational and when I pull the lever back, the back blade is operational. Each attachment remains at whatever position it is in when the valve is moved. Very handy whether moving snow or dirt when you need the back blade to "clean up".

thanks for the replies.
Bryan looks like that's what I'm after. I'd like to find one with a higher pressure, however it seems you've had no issues with this one. thanks

Some facts. A WD pump was rated at 3400 psi when they were new and in top condition. Most have fallen below 3,000 psi and some are by now even 2,500 or so. A CA is the same pump, so I assume the pressures would be comparable. The only time it ever hits that number is if you fully extend a cylinder and then let the pump hammer until it unloads. Or if you try to pick up something that the loader won't lift, it is unloading. I have seen this same valve a half dozen times over the years and never seen one fail, so they must be good enough.

Question on iron pipe and psi. How much will it stand? Looks like in the picture that is what Brain G has.
All the old crawler stuff had 1000 psi on a good day, if everything went wrong maybe 1500 tops. So all the employment stuff was always plummeted with iron pipe. Is that something to be real concerned about if putting a tractor that makes better than 2000 psi on it.

This how I did mine. Really convenient to have it close.

Dr. allis, will the gpm rating make any difference in operation, I see some valves with a higher gpm.
mdm1, I like the nifty lever on yours, do you know what particular valve that is?

GPM's ain't a problem for you !!! Your pump on a good day is only 4 GPM.

ok, so it looks like I'll have to eliminate the factory TEE and then T off the rear lift cylinders from one of the outgoing ports of the selector valve/same for the loader cylinders. Plug up one side of the hold positioning valve on the tractor and the other side have a line going into the selector valve, correct?
I assume it doesn't matter which side of the hold positioning valve you come out of?

On a WD/WD45 the lift arm cylinders are fed from both sides of the HOLD valve, but only the left side has HOLD control. The right side lifts or lowers only. The left side lifts-holds-lowers. So, not sure how a mighty CA is plumbed. |

I got it from surpluscenter.com. Get a 3 way valve in the size you need. Just make sure you get one with enough rated psi. Works good for me.

Ok, looks like you have a 3 way 2 position (L) ball valve. These are rated @7250 PSI for $25. It seems to do the same function as the selector/diverter valve for $80. Is there any advantage in going with a selector valve vs. a ball valve?
