Hey Fellers! Well our 7030 was sold to a pretty cool guy out in PA. I hauled it out there last week for him. And now theres a little more room in the shop so I pulled this gal out of hiding in the corner (35 years or so its sat)
Im surprised all but 1 tire is holding air. Going to check things over and change the fluids and hopefully not get the crank in the nads trying to get her going. Again as ive said in previous post, I was brought up orange. Always RED.. But after marrying into a ALL orange family. Im hooked! I still know next to nothing but Im getting there. Ive been lucky enough to get 99% of these old war horses at the farm rebuilt/running condition. Not the greatest pics but i tried. |

That looks like it was restored 35 years ago and parked! That looks GREAT! The radiator fins are straight. The tin work is perfecto! The rear tires have the old school tread design. Starter fuel tank and line is there. All it needs is a wash and wax.

Thanks for the kind words!
Yup grandpa repainted a LONG time ago. Your probably right, 35 + years ago before it was parked in the corner... I dont know if it means anything but the oil filter has the old diamond logo on it yet... I want to save it and put it up on the shelf when i change the oil. Still has the starter tank in it yet. It took me forever to figure out what that was for. The only thing Im a little discouraged about is the bottom of the tool box it rotted away in a couple spots. |

Some of the decal kits come with a oil filter decal. Check to see if the oil filter looks like it has a decal around it. It may not be as old as you think.

I zoomed in to the filter. It may be old! Looks like a flat top!

Is there a lip on the top of the filter so it would hold rain water? Then it is old.

Something fishy here....... shouldn't it have a one piece crank on it?
At any rate, that is one sweet machine! |

A whole lot of WC's got the 2 piece hand crank after it came out because of things like a woven fence jumping out and grabbing them

It may have been swapped, or not.
We have a 1938 unstyled. That's the year of style change. It has a detachable crank just like in the pictures here. Factory we believe. If this is a 1938 then it makes sense as well. |

The mag and steering wheel don't say 1938 on this one though...

Neither do the round spoke wheels and the serial number. It's a 1936 serial number. I wonder when the 2 piece crank actually came about. The 37 WF I used to have had a 2 piece with a hole in the right frame rail for the crank handle and a clip. I don't know the originality of that though. Nice looking WC! I've got a '38 - I love that barking sound when she's pulling under load. Have fun with her.

Out of Terry Deans data book-
"A one piece starting crank for the standard model with dual front wheels was used prior to 1938 serial number 68611. At serial number 68611 and up an extension stayed on the tractor and the crank was removable." "Prior to engine number W-3522, the mag should be a Bendix-Scintilla C-4." Which I think that's the one in the picture. Are those 17" front wheels or 16"? Edited by littlemarv - 25 Feb 2016 at 8:18pm |

So if im reading that right, from the factory it should have a 1 piece crank? If so does that kill any value at all that the tractor has? Not that im selling it. Just like it to be right Im pretty sure they are 17" and you are right on about the mag....

It should have a 1 piece crank, I guess. Affect value? Depends who you ask. I wouldn't think so, but if you want it to be perfect original, its got to go......
I'm building a WC myself, I was looking at various ones last summer. If you want it to be original, you can go bonkers trying to get it there. "If there is only 1 hole in the left frame instead of two up by the engine, then its an early one...." "If the seat is held on with a stud and a nut, its an early one...." If you want to find out whats all wrong on your tractor, originality wise, just take it to a show. There is an abundance of head shakers and finger wagglers, that's for sure. If the front wheels are 17", then they are original, and I think pretty rare. |

That Mag is a Fairbanks Morse RV4B and yes they were used on early WC's from the factory. |
