    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 at 2:47am

I just received a notice from Microsoft that sometime SOON I will be receiving a  new browser,,MS Edge during the latest MS upgrade. The two times I tried Edge,,I did NOT like it and wound up losing most of my favorites and passwords. I think it is wrong for MS to do this without asking us "IF" we want the friggin thing,,,,I did not see a way to opt out ,,,,anybody got any ideas,,??

Joe, calm down.  It's not as bad as you might think.  Which browser do you currently use?  If you are using Google Chrome ( or any of the browsers that use the Chromium platform) then the new Edge is basically the same.

Currently, there are 3 basic browsers available.  MS Edge, which is a total fiasco and waste of time.  Mozilla Fire Fox, and a few others that use the Mozilla platform.  And Google Chrome, and the many others that use the Chromium platform.

Microsoft finally wised up and realized that their old Edge browser was a bust and got smart and are switching the Edge browser over to using the Chromium platform.  It has been available for a few months if you wanted to download it, which I did.  I'm happy with the new version.  It is almost the same as Chrome, without the Google spying.  It can even use the extensions that Chrome uses.

For those that use Chrome, the new Edge is a very similar replacement that you may like.  My biggest problem with it is that I also HATE Microsoft, but that is another story.

Hey Grayway,, I currently use Firefox and like it pretty much.
I was NOT aware that google was spyin on your business within the google platform,,,LOL
Does the new Edge browser shield you from this google spying??  If so,,I'M IN,,!!
I have been goin round and round with MS on their friggin updates for the longest as they have always corrupted my PC to where it took their techs taking remote control of my  PC in order to get it up and running again. One upgrade finally crashed my PC for good  and the Techs  were not able to get it going again. We're still arguing about WHO should pay for the replacement PC. Me and MS ain't friends for sure,,!!

I never had any trouble with the old edge after it was out for a while----ya, to start with it would mess up your computer. --- I don't want the new version of it! ---the old version has the "safe search OFF" setting ----in FF you gotta mess around every time you want to look at something "adult" and set it for every search----never used to do that.
