so I pulled the rear sprocket drive and replaced the bearing and seal. finally got it back together. filled it with 80.140 weight oil. everything seems okay. no oil leaks. my tranny was pretty low on oil as was the converter. filled then both up and the converter seems to work fine. both sides pulls like they should. left brake is real good. right brake needs some attending. hopefully adjustment will make it work better. had two good diesel leaks but managed to fix them. there has been another problem that has arisen. I am getting some oil drip out of the bottom rung hole on my right side case. my oil level in the right case doesn't seem to be going down. it looks as though I may have a bad seal on the clutch drive shaft on the tranny side, I have a manual but apparently its not clear to me ho to proceed to fix it. I guess there is a seal on the inside that needs to be preplaced and I need to know how to fix it so cmon people give me some advice. I sure need it. thanks norm

there is a seal on the inside of the housing next to the clutches. I believe if it were me I would try to find a thicker gear oil for the gear section and let it play out. once it leaks down some it will still be lubricated by the bull gear and drive gear from clutch. otherwise it is the job of pulling clutches, taking track apart or at the least removing a pad to get to the outside snap ring and cover to remove shaft nut so drive splined shaft can be removed toward the tranny to install a new seal. pull the top cover and see if oil is running down the inside of the case to drain plug in the bottom. randal
By the way Norman I had the Widow Maker Heart Attack on August 30 th. and had to have two stints put in. doing ok now. thankfully was in Columbus Ohio when it happened. |

Pinball. My old buddy that ran AC's used to buy STP in 5 gallon buckets. He always added a lot to every gear box on the old AC's 16's and 21's he had. He said it saved him a whole lot of down time in season.

sounds like he wanted a thick oil. expensive but effective. thanks for the info. I know a guy who puts thick Joy oil in leak areas. says it works great. 165.00 for 5 gal though.
