Thought so. One thing about the Ms is that they are alot smoother running 2 cylinders than the horizontals.

Plus they have a foot clutch. I never got the hang of the hand clutch. I had a 520 about 20 years ago and, when I bought it from a local JD dealer, the parts guy told me that after I took down 3 or 4 trees, I'd get used to it. I sold the tractor to a JD guy. Bob@allisdowneast

Then my dad bought it from him and used it for everything untill he got his first bobcat and it has ben sitting there ever sense. It shouldent take much to get it running again it turns over and is not stuck. |

I plan on leaving the tractor orgional except for new front tires . But i might repaint the loader because most of the paint is gone off of it. As soon as we get our shop rebuilt ill start on it.

I've owned 2 Ms and a MT. My Ms had a single touch-a-matic lift and the MT had a dual touch-a-matic like the one in the picture. Must be an MI thing????

As horribly crude as the two cylinder design is i don't hate working on them or driving them for that matter. I love how when you get them running right they idle slow enough to count the pops and you can slam the throttle open and it'll almost instantly smooth out.

I was at a show once where a friend of mine had his large 2 cylinder green tractor, I forget model. We took it over and hooked/belted it to a Backer Fan. I was amazed how that belt kept flopping instead of running smooth it would have if it had been a 4 or 6 cylinder.

Neat little tractor.
My dad has an old JD dozer with a vertical two cylinder engine in it. He hasn't used it for several years but I think the engine "smoothing out" is a relative term. That bugger is pretty loud when working. |

My mom said it sounded like a harly davidson. But at a show i went to a guy had one (olny other i have seen) and its quit as can be but if you throtled it up fast that little tractor barked. And when they were dooing a slow race it won every time and you could count the stroks on the raincap.
