Any of you running the higher ratio Murphy roller rockers for a 426, 301 this is a heads up. The instructions that you get have you check all kinds of clearances but makes no mention of the rollers centering on the valve stems so I assumed the higher ratio was achieved on the shorter pushrod side. Nope. Been running them a couple years and I just happened to notice the rollers were hanging halve off the stems, its hard to see with the engine installed, thats when I installed them. Pulled them out and compared to stock, shorter on the short side but also longer on the long side so they hang long, grrr. Should mention that in instructions, I had to elongate holes in the hold down stands, quite a pain. Two long days later they look good.

I never noticed that problem with my set, I've had them for at least 10 years now, and used them on a couple of different heads. I wonder if they changed something? The Murphy 426 are different than Murphy 301 even though stock rockers are the same. They offset some of the 301 rockers. And yes, they do move the pushrod much closer to the fulcrum, usually have to grind away some on the head for clearance when valve is full open.

Bought mine in 2014, did not use them for quite some time, first tractor I tried on bent all the pushrods, stock springs, now I know why. Are yours longer on the valve side? If so they cant be correct, I had to use a mirror to spot it. I noticed after I moved the stands back the pushrods are nice and straight.

I texted you a pic Tom. I also have smith bros custom make me 301 and 426 pushrods in the stock od, just thicker wall. A lot of builders put in 7/16" PR and they really require a lot of grinding the head to clear.

Cant tell from your photo but mine looked fine until I really scrutinized them. It is tough when the engine is mounted, big gourd gets in the way. Mine were hanging over so bad you could see the valves were never rotating.

I'll probably have my valve cover off this spring to check the lash, so I'll take a very close look, and more pics lmao! I'd think it'd be eating guides if it was that far off. Thanks for the heads up.
