Bought one at auction today. 1969 model with the turbo diesel (not a hydro). Came with a draper head and maybe a 12-13 ft straight cut head. Has a Dickey John monitor system that seems to work I think (at least the lights come on). Pretty decent shape but not perfect by along stretch. Was part of a clearing auction for a 94 year old that is in a nursing home. Was told by the family it worked good. Hadn't been run for maybe 4 years but was stored inside. It ran, stopped and the threshing mechanism was operated at the sale. Drove it 10 miles home after the sale and she seemed to run even better as she went along. Going to change all the fluids, but what other stuff should I be checking or looking for. What kind of maintenance or fixing up should I do. Any other thoughts. My research and what people have told me indicates the G was a darn good unit.

Auctally, they did make 5 prototype self propelled combines that used the N62 engine and tranny-back parts of a G...

3 are still in existence.

Although I think Dale is talking of a Gleaner G combine!
