Evie has a bearded dragon. Evie's bearded dragon is SICK. Don't know what's wrong yet but he's lethargic and passing blood. Went to an emergency vet AGAIN last night at about 11. They don't have a reptile vet so their suggestions were take him to the reptile specialist at UGA in Athens (90 miles from here) or "discuss "further treatments"". Now I'm no idiot. I know "further treatments" means end it here. Well..... Evie turns to me with tears in her big blue eyes and says "Athens isn't THAT far daddy". So here we go to Hubert country. Got there about 1:45 this morning. He was admitted to the hospital at about 3. Time to find a hotel. Go to the first one. "All booked, have 3 weddings". Go to the second. "Sorry... All booked". Call the third. "I can rent you a room but you can't check in until 9am". WHAT? Call the fourth. Has 1 room left. Single, smoking. I didn't even know hotels still had smoking rooms. Finally found a room at about 4 this morning. Got up about 8, ate breakfast at McDonald's where the dining room attendant was an absolute angel. Made things a little easier to take. Then, a 2 hour drive home. Got a call this evening from the hospital. He's not any better but he's not worse either. I may have given them the blue eyes, but Danielle gave them the red hair, the looks, and the ability to tear daddies heart out, stomp on it, and hand it back and it be ok. Those of you with girls know this sh!t ain't for the faint of heart.
There's some good things that came from it too. Got to have some of those life lesson conversations on the way back today Edited by thendrix - 1 hour 14 minutes ago at 5:07pm |
